Sara's Friend Update - Things Are Dismal...

Well, last night I was sitting up with him half the night; the pain was

really terrible. This has all gotten slowly a little bit better since

he completely cut out the coffee and has made a concerted effort to eat

better, but he still has bad days like yesterday. That was no fun for

either of us, and I think it was caused by him eating too much, but I'm

not sure. We try to keep him eating small amounts frequently, but he's

used to eating large meals and yesterday he slipped and had a big lunch,

and he hurt worse and worse all night after that.

We've tried two kinds of OTC acid-reducers, and they don't do anything.

It scares me how sensitive to touch his stomach is--you can't even

brush it with your fingertips, and he winces. He still belches, less

than before and more when it's actively hurting...he's had some days

where he was mostly okay, but not one single day in three months that he

hasn't had some pain or discomfort.

So, well, where we're at, treating this like acid reflux isn't working,

and not knowing what it is is scaring the hell out of both of us, so I

think there's no option but to take him to an MD somewhere and get tests

done. We have no money and are pretty much living on charity as it is

thanks to lost jobs and my divorce, so I'm looking for a medical clinic

that will do free or sliding-scale payments, anywhere in Michigan.

(Actually, anywhere in driving distance would do, if they'd take a

Michigan patient.) We were considering going to the ER (last night,

even) and just dealing with the bill, but I'd like to avoid that if I

can; for one thing, one visit to the ER isn't going to be very

comprehensive, and may not help us find out what's wrong.

I've checked the County Health Dept. page with no results, and trolled

the 'Net without finding anything, so if anybody knows of anywhere I

could ask for information on Michigan medical clinics, I'd really,

*really* appreciate it.

Also, I really appreciate all your help, and everyone who's offered

advice. Thanks!

Sara... I assume that you have listened to Doc's tape. Have you had a

consultation with him.! I strongly recommend that you do.

He must do a full body cleanse. He needs to clean out his Liver / Gall

Bladder. This is the only thing that is going to handle the root of the

problem....Mary O

Doc's tapes are an excellent resource, yes, but my friend and I talked

about options like a Total Body Cleanse or a wildly different diet than

his usual (like SCD), and we decided that we didn't feel comfortable

making these huge changes without knowing what was wrong. For one

thing, it could be anything from an ulcer to a gallstone to a hiatal

hernia, all of which would require different treatment, and also, things

like a Total Cleanse would be *very* difficult for us to afford to do,

and if we spent the money on those, there's no way we could afford to

take him to a doctor.

Lastly, the fear factor is a big one now...after three months of pain

and not knowing what's going on, he's terrified, and of course panic

attacks only make it worse. I promised him I would help him find out

what's wrong...now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's simple

enough that a doctor can tell us--!

Thanks! -ST
