Guest guest
Does anyone have any tips for someone suffering from acid reflux? I'm looking for something that will heal the problem causing it instead of just masking the symptoms. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Sandy, Sometimes, Acid Reflux can be caused by physical abnormalities in the stomach, including faulty valves and even a hiatal hernia. Severe and uncontrollable acid reflux can often be caused by the bacteria H. Pylori which should be taken care of. My hubby has actually been scoped and diagnosed with GERD, beginnings of gastritis (inflammed lining of the stomach) and a hiatal hernia. I can say that drinking chammomile and peppermint tea following meals has helped tremendously. (also reducing his stress levels, commute etc) When he's really suffering, I even make the peppermint tea with a bit of slippery elm and/or marshmallow root. They are demulcents and will soothe the irritated esophagus and stomach lining. I'm sure others will have more ideas...but that's what has worked for him!
