Guest guest
I bought the arnica for my tennis elbow/bursitis. It says 3-3X a day but for no more than 10 days. Is there any leeway on this? Kim
Guest guest
Hi Kim, Homeopathy works on the basis of the minimum intake. You only take them if/when needed. Homeopathy is meant to stimulate the body's own healing system, and once it's done that sufficiently, you don't need to take anymore. So you want to take the Arnica to stimulate the body, and then stop to let the body do it's work. love Lisa - Kimberly herbal remedies Wednesday, September 29, 2004 3:01 AM Herbal Remedies - Question about Arnica I bought the arnica for my tennis elbow/bursitis. Guest guest
What is the potency of the Arnica? Actually, you shouldn't need to use it for more than ten days if it's the proper remedy for your situation. I've heard more people getting relief from Rhus Tox with tennis elbow than Arnica, though. Just depends on the symptoms/modalities. Sharyn Kimberly [kdtudman] I bought the arnica for my tennis elbow/bursitis. It says 3-3X a day but for no more than 10 days. Guest guest
Kim, I also BELIEVE that arnica can be toxic in large doses when taken internally. (The U.S. lists it as an internal poison I believe I heard) I find that making an infused oil or a balm out of the arnica is quite effective. PErhaps a poultice even? Guest guest
NOT homeopathic Arnica. Just the herb. No homeopathic remedy is toxic, even though it may be made from a poisonous or toxic substance (e.g., Arsenicum from arsenic). Guest guest
Hi Sarah, the doses of Arnica in a homeopathic remedy are soooo minute, that it would be incredibly difficult to overdose to the degree of toxicity. You have to take absolute massive amount of pills to create that effect, over a number of years probably, that's how minute the dosages are! love Lisa - Sarah Anne herbal remedies Wednesday, September 29, 2004 2:13 PM Herbal Remedies - Re: Question about Arnica Kim,I also BELIEVE that arnica can be toxic in large doses when taken internally. Guest guest
Hey All, I am sorry, I must have misread. I was simply meaning the herb itself. Example: I bought some to make an oil/salve for my loved one's foot pain and was cautioned about creating a tincture to take internally. That's all :)But thanks for the info! Guest guest
Externally there is no problem with using the herb for an oil/salve. It's more for bruising, though, than what I understood was going on with your loved one's foot pain. Sharyn Sarah Anne [sarahlovell] I am sorry, I must have misread. Guest guest
Kim - A homeopathic remedy works when "like cures like". A homeopathic doctor will find out what a person is all about after a couple of hours of questions, and will decide on one remedy that will work for *that* person. There are just a couple of general remedy homeopathics--one being arnica. Arnica will only work for a trauma. So if your elbow had a trauma, it will work. Homeopathy is VERY specific. The reason your bottle says not to use more than ten days is because a homeopathic remedy will, in all likelihood, work in three days or not at all, so there is no reason to take it longer. Whenever you take a homeopathic remedy, you never touch the pellets/pills other than the ones you will be taking at the moment. So, you shake 3 to 5 pills into the lid, and then into your hand so as not to touch/contaminate the other pills in the bottle. Also, do not eat nor drink anything about 15-20 minutes on either side of taking the pills. Put the pills under your tongue to get into the body via the fastest route.
