I also wondered if any of you had reccommendations on what you would

stock up on with your first order.

I would get the herbs that you need fresh (not dried) first, because you can only get them once a year. I recently got 2 lbs. of fresh red clover blossoms because Aug- Sept. is the only time they are available from my source. Fresh echinacea root is going to be coming up next, as are hawthorne berries. Once the season is over, you have to wait a whole year to get the fresh herb again. Of course you have to make tinctures with fresh herbs right away. Can't let them sit like you can the dried ones.

Mary,

I hope so. This week is payday and though I can find all these herbs

locally, they are TRES EXPENSIVE...so my family is helping me put in

a huge order to herbalcom. A loved one is even making me a shelving

unit to store everything on, tinctures, jars of herbs etc.

Any reccommendation on storing bulk herbs? I'd like to keep a good

stock on hand. I was thinking about ordering a bunch of 1/2 gallon

jars.

I also wondered if any of you had reccommendations on what you would

stock up on with your first order. I'm looking to get a pretty good

cabinet going with supplies and herbs. Any thoughts or insight would

be great!

I found some gallon sized glass jars there...okay...maybe not gallon but like 3/4 of a gallon sized jars..

Restaurants usually throw them out, too. They often get things like pickles in them. They used to give them to me when I worked as a waitress. You can always check a few and ask if they have any laying around. Also trash picking isn't beneath me;-). When I was doing mosaics, I used to go to the trash bins behind the Dollar Store and Big Lots to see if they had thrown away any broken dishes, etc.

You might want to think about joining your local Freecycle list

(www.freecycle.org) and posting on it looking for those half-gallon jars. I

bet you can get what you want for free.

(I cleaned out most of my basement that way, and have found a few things

that I wanted and could no longer buy, for free.)

Sarah Anne...if you have a Big Lots near you...I found some gallon sized glass jars there...okay...maybe not gallon but like 3/4 of a gallon sized jars...they are plenty big...and they were $.99 each. I bought all that they had at the one store and am going to get more when I hit another one!

Just a thought for storage.
