Guest guest
My Momma recently said to me " you were no Gerber baby " . I beamed as she went on about how she mashed up regular whole foods like fruits and veggies and fed them to me. I didn't even taste chocolate till I was 2. And even then I think it was carob or something. She didn't stop there. She homecooked everything. We didn't get no TV dinners and canned veggies. We got frozen or fresh veggies, real homemade roasts and chicken, and she made her own pot pies and lasagna. While she used natural remedies where she could, she was just beginning to learn about them and a lot of times, we had ailments like colds, breathing problems or ear infections that required something NOW and she didn't know the natural remedy for it. But she did her best with what she knew at the time. She didn't like prescriptions but having been raised in the western mainstream, she didn't know what else to do. So I'm taking things a step further. We eat about 90% organic (it'd be 100% if we had access to everything and if Whole Foods stopped carrying conventional crap and instead did the 100%-organic thing, but never say never). We do all natural remedies ourselves: everything from massage, nutrition, chiropractic, acupressure/reflexology, lymphatic drainage, stretching, meditation, exercise, and sunlight. We don't take aspirin, sudafed, or anything like that. We don't take ANYTHING you see on TV. I've made a pact with myself never to have unnessesary surgery (unless I tear a ligament or something), take any drug (unless it's to totally save my life in an emergency last resort kind of thing), etc. We have even tossed about 75% of the hazardous household chemicals and we're shooting for higher as we learn new substitutes. It's kinda fun thinking about future generations at our house! I'm thinking we're gonna raise some pretty healthy kids when (or even if) that time ever comes.... Just my ramblings, --Jen
