Guest guest
Wow,... something I actually know something about. I don't know that this qualifies as "herbal" but I have Irish Water Spaniels (floppy ears with heavy coats and they LOVE to swim). The best cleaner/drying agent I've ever used is vodka (as high a proof as possible) with boric acid. I typically make a 2 cups at a time. 1 3/4 cups vodka and 3/4 cup of Boric Acid... you can cut it down with some water if the ears are infected or tender since it can sting slightly. Guest guest
I use colloidal silver. It's pretty expensive, too, but I have a friend with a generator and she gives it to me by the gallon. So not so expensive after all. Just a couple of drops each night for a couple of nights will get rid of any gunkies. (Besides, what's in that small bottle from the vet is very probably not good for your dog....) Guest guest
Hi Karen, Ear drops formula in the files. Why do you need to keep buying ear drops? Is it a constant problem? Guest guest
Hi Karen, I have a 1 1/2 yr old black lab, with floppy ears, and she used to get ear infections ALL THE TIME! We kind of had a standing appointment with the vet. It was very annoying. I used the ear drops on her but it didn't clear up until I switched her to a better food. She's currently on Flint River Ranch pet foods (got the recommendation from Doc). I would like to switch her to raw, but haven't done the proper research to know where to get that easily, how much to feed, etc. I also give her some Total Tonic in her water as well as the Total Pet Nutrition twice a week. Just changing the food keeps the ear infections away. Hopefully some of this will help you. Good luck! Guest guest
The first thing you should do is cut out all grains (which means all commercial dog food) and below-ground vegetables from his diet. They feed yeast. Sharyn k smith [iamfree2b2004] He has floppy ears & keeps getting yeast infections & has alergies. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Here is the recipe that I recommend to my clients pets for ear problems, especially with yeasty ears. 3 parts witch hazel 1 part aloe vera (juice or gel) to that add (for a 2 oz bottle) 3-4 drops lavendar essential oil and 3-4 drops tea tree essential oil. I recommend that they use a dropper in the ear twice a day. To massage the ear when they put the formula in, let the dog shake their heads and then use a piece of gauze to clean out the goop that comes out. Never use a q tip in their ears.
