What herbs are good for this kind of pain...you know the

aching all through the back kind of cramps.

I work with someone who had such intense menstrual cramps she could barely get out of bed and often didn't. They were terrible. She went to a holistic MD and he gave her Vitex. It completely alleviated the pain and she said she finally felt sane again. Vitex is an herb, also known as chaste tree.

I can't tell you anything for the short term, but Calcium Supplements and Chasteberry do the trick for me. Taken daily - after a cycle or two the cramps lessened Greatly. Alos, lots of water, and interestingly enough I've found that if I don't eat meat during my period that the cramps are not so bad.

Hi Victoria,

I have a Calcium/Magnesium drink which works excellent for this pain (at least it does for me!), hotwater bottle (on the tummy) or hot bath works great too, but doesn't last long. Calcium is a very underrated but excellent pain killer!

Doc has a female formula (it's in the files) which re-balances the hormones, often the problem with the painful cramps. Not an immediate solution if you need one right now, but definitely worth a try for next month. BTW, I suggest taking that formula mid-cycle. I once took it just before my period was due, and that period was VERY painful. The next ones weren't.

I would reccemond the same thing. Espically the female formula. White Willow Bark is also a good general pain killer.

Hi Victoria,

I can recomend something I use. It is called " For Her " . I am the

mother of twins and two other children (3 of them are adults and one

is 8 years old now). Since I was young I always suffered from cramps

during this time...also after the twins, 20+ years ago, I suffered as

well from a heavy flow. Now I do not suffer from the cramps and my

flow only lasts two days. I highly recomend it. You can get it at

www.real.beautyisscience.com

I hope this helps you let me know,

Kathy

Hi Victoria,

I know you've gotten lots of advice on this already, but this one I have some

personal experience with and wanted to throw my comments in. :)

I found that my cramps were always worse when I hadn't been exercising, so I

highly recommend that you've got some kind of activity every day, even if just a

brisk 20 minute walk. The other thing I had some luck with, on the days of the

cramps was peppermint tea. It took a lot to drive me to this because I HATE

peppermint, but it did help.

Best,

Kelli

Yes, that was already recommended. My situation was completely handled with the cleanse and female formula. Now my period sneaks up on me! No warning! LOL! :)
