Guest guest
Hi All, Just wanted to see if everyone that was affected by Charley was ok. I live in southwestern Ontario and watched the storm through the media. Looked like one heck of a monster to me. Hope all you and yours were safe. My prayers are with you. Guest guest
Hey guys, I just heard to soon-to-be official Darwin Award for Hurricane Charley. This guy (who did not evacuate) was in his house during the peak of the storm. He decided it was a good idea to step outside for a cigarette. While he was on his " Smoke Break " a tree landed on him, killing him. -Shelby boomerbaby1947 [sharronms] Saturday, August 14, 2004 9:43 AM herbal remedies Herbal Remedies - The Hurricane Hi All, Just wanted to see if everyone that was affected by Charley was ok. Guest guest
Dear Sharron and all the rest of you HR Hurricane well wishers, It ended up being a comedy of errors for the Shillington family. I wanted to stay here in Clearwater, because I love storms. My son Bryan wanted to go surfing (yes he's 17 and invincible , but Valorie was a little freaked and wanted to leave especially since we live in a "B" zone where it was a mandatory evacuation due to flooding. Sooooooooooo we had a family meeting and decided to make a holiday of it all (since this happened on Friday), and took off for Orlando to stay with one of Bryan's School buddies and family. We packed up and shut down the house as tight as a drum and took off around noon. And whatdya know??? Clearwater and Tampa were missed altogether, Charlie came ashore much further to the south and went straight through Orlando. It was only a Class One hurricane when it arrived around 9:30PM but it was serious enough to land an entire 100 year old Oak Tree right on the front lawn of the house we were staying in. Sooooooooooo, I got my storm, Bryan got to go surfing in his friend's pool, and Valorie ended up being a little freaked anyway but had the fun of being entertained since myself and Bryan's friend's parents were all professional musicians and we had a major jam session during the worst part of the storm. At least we were spared the garbage being spewed out by the news media since the power lines went down after the Oak Tree landed in the front yard. Overall it was a successful evolution. Guest guest
Hi Ian, I'm glad that all are safe and sound. A vacation you're soon not to forget I'm sure...lol. Funny how music can lift the spirits at times of uncertainty, whether it be John Newton's Amazing Grace, or Bob Segar's Old Time Rock and Roll. It's a gift of love and healing. I truly believe that. All is well, that ends well! It's good to have you back.
