So this hole type thing that is as big as a pea is supposedly a

cankersore I guess.

I get canker sores and found that a mega-dose of Vitamin B Complex helps to clear them out. I take at least 200-300 mg. a day (split up..not all at the same time) when I get those. They are water soluable and won't hurt you...you will just pee out the excess. Your urine will be bright yellow. That's the first thing I go for when I get sores in my mouth. Canker sores are one of the signs of a vitamin B deficiency. I take a high dosage of them for a few days and I usually see results. Canker sores can also be a sign of candida overgrowth in the mouth. I've also had that happen to me. If yeast (candida) is the problem, lay off all sugar and rinse your mouth out with a solution of water and grapefruitseed extract a few times a day. Tastes terrible, but won't burn, and is very effective.

Herbal Remedies - Canker sores!

So this hole type thing that is as big as a pea is supposedly a cankersore I guess. So the doctor gave me this stuff to gurgle with then spit out, it like numbs my mouth for like 20 mins, then doesn't help at all!!! And can only take ever 4 hours. So I'm hardly eating at all, and got no strentgh in me whatsoever. I've heard Vit. C is good for them, but I can't take that because of my bladder, or any teas. Is there anything to do to help the pain! It's so bad I can't eat, talk, or even sleep! My Mom might be going to the health food store, if there is anything that doesn't cost too much there she might be able to get for it. Also any idea what to try and eat, or what to do to have strentgh??? Sorry to bug ya'll, I just don't know where else to get any ideas! Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. The best thing I know of for canker sores is essential oil of lemon balm (melissa off.). It would be best to dilute it with another oil. Olive oil will work if you don't have jojoba. Also, you can steep a strong infusion of lemon balm tea and use cotton swabs to apply it, but as it will dry faster, it doesn't work as quickly.

While Vit C is good, try to avoid highly acidic foods/liquids until your canker sore has cleared up.

Colloidal silver is a good immune booster, but is pretty expensive for something like a canker sore.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that canker sores are typically a sign that you are under too much stress. If you find that you are suffering from recurring canker sores, it might be a good indicator that you need some rest/relaxation or something to help reduce daily stress (yoga comes to mind).

Magnesium helps mine; I remember my grandma would

give us Phillips' Milk of Magnesia tablets for them

and now I take a little more magnesium. Also, do not

brush your teeth with a regular toothpaste because the

foaming agent (a sulfite, I think?) aggravates canker

sores. And is totally useless in the toothpaste

besides.

It is just amazing some of the interesting ideas that people come up

with to treat a viral disease. Canker sores are a form of herpes

simplex. We all have the virus. It becomes active when we are

overstressed for long periods of time. Diet will also bring out the

virus especially one that is high in arginine and low in lysine.

Lysine will put the virus into remission. The herb lemon balm,

Melissa Officinalis, does help. I would not suggest the oil. You

can find lemon balm in capsules in most health food stores.

Hope this helps,

James

James,

I have read about using the lemon balm oil in many aromatherapy books and it has been confirmed by someone I consider to be a highly reputable aromatherapist. In addition to this, I have used it myself. Dulution is definitely necessary as it is with most every other EO.

Another good way to us Lemon Balm is to use the fresh leaves. Bruise them and rub on the sore, but that requires a person to grow it or find it wild (haven't found wild melissa yet).
