Hi Merinda

My little grandson has quite severe excema and some food allergies - he is just

18 months. My daughter manages to keep it under some type of control by doing

the following - it is very time consuming - she ---

uses a top quality Lavender hydrosol to wipe his skin down

only baths him twice a week

rubs him all over with unrefined shea butter before she puts him in his bath

uses this also regularly during the day on his driest, itchiest parts

does use steroidal creams but only on the really sore parts and only for a

couple of days at a time

uses a hypo-allergenic moisturiser which is as natural as she can get with no

colouring or fragrance

uses this moisturiser all over his body at least 3 times a day - *hard* work!

uses the mildest ecological washing powder she can find

only clothes him in cotton

works really hard at keeping down the dust mite community, especially with his

soft toys (freezes them, and washes them at high temperatures)

I wouldn't recommend any clay because of their drying properties on an already

very dry skin.

I wouldn't use any essential oils at all (this has been a difficult one for me

to learn as an aromatherapist!!)

I think the big word has to be moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.....

hope this is some help

regards

Ann - Scotland

One of my clients has a niece about 2 or 3 with excema ALL over her body.

I was thinking of shea butter, mango butter and jojoba. There is a temptation

to use white clay or maybe pink for some healing.

EOs could be lavender, aust sandalwood for itching.

However, I feel for this little one so ideas, please

I have a friend who's 4 yr old daughter has excema on the back of
