1. GOT DIOXIN?

In your milk? Find out how this carcinogen wound up in the milk supply and what you can do to get it out .

2. BETTER SUN BLOCKERSTo prevent skin cancer, doctors advise we stay out of the sun when the rays are most powerful, and cover up with clothing, hats and UVB/UVA sunblocks with an SPF of at least 15. Note, however, that some ingredients in sunblocks can cause skin irritation or worse. What to do? Use sunblock, but read the labels. Certain chemicals which don't permeate the skin are safer than others. For a list of better blockers, and what ingredients to look for,

3. TALK TO THE FARMERS

No doubt, on more than one occasion, we've all wondered whether the farmers at the local market who aren't certified organic are using low impact farming techniques nonetheless? One of the benefits of shopping at a farmers' market is the chance to talk directly with growers about where your food is from and how it is grown. So don't be shy, get to know your local farmers and what they do to produce your food. Here are a few good questions to consider asking them.4. THE FISH ARE JUMPIN'

With summer upon us, lighter foods and fresh flavors -- including fish -- are on the menu. What better time to offer an update to our popular Smart Shopper's Fish Picks Card (FREE through July 15th). We've added five new species to our list of safest fish to eat for both our personal health and the ocean's.

5. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

Fair play may be the rule on the playing field, but not in the factories where the shoes and sports equipment worn on the field are made. Workers face unfair labor and foul health conditions and have few protections, legal or otherwise. A few manufacturers have taken steps to eliminate toxic ingredients from their manufacturing and to participate in third party monitoring of their factories to ensure fair working conditions are being met, but many more need to join in.
