Guest guest
Sylvia and all...I did recieve a call from Organic Valley this afternoon .The lady I spoke to told me their somatic cell count is 400,000 per mililiter ! Now this can't be right as it would be illegal ! That would add up to 400,000,000 per liter . The limit in Wisconsin where the dairy is located is 297,000,000 per liter ! You know what I think in having talked to two companies ? The people I spoke to had difficulty in reading the numbers ! They also did not know what a somatic cell count was !Let's hope that the USDA can read numbers ! WILD ! What do you think ?....Mary O
Guest guest
That's odd that they work with milk and dairy products for their job and they don't know what a somatic cell count is. DH milks cows every other weekend for a farmer and when I brought up somatic cells he whipped out a sheet and showed me the last somatic cell count reading for that farm. Guest guest
Candace, We have a small herd of dairy goats - just for family, soap and cheese use And once per month i run an at home CMT test (California Mastitis test) just to be sure we are drinking clean milk with no bacteria in it. A doe can have mastitis and not show any signs of illness Vickie
