questions from a future massage therapist

Hi all,

I'm about to launch my therapeutic massage business. Like most ppl

here, I'm EXTREMELY picky about ingredients. So now I have a couple

questions...

1) I have heard that grapefruit seed extract is an awesome sanitizer,

fungicidal and the whole shebang. Is this true? Or is there a

different natural nontoxic substance I should look into? (It's what my

ND uses to sterilize his office with, so that's why I'm asking about

that particular substance.) But if there are other, better options,

I'll take any feedback!

2) I'm also picky about what goes on the skin of both my future

clients AND myself. The skin absorbs 60% of whatever is applied to it,

so I better make sure everything is SAFE (and I don't mean the FDA's

version of GRAS, either!! Many times I think they're smoking GRAS.

Sorry... late at nite ;) ) So, how might I be able to make my own

creams, oils, gels, etc, and what ingredients might I use? (I'd LIKE

to have something where a little goes a long way, for 2 reasons: 1.

That way, I'm not going thru it like there's no tomorrow, and 2. it

doesn't make my future clients feel gross/slimy/sticky/etc when they

get off the table and back into what is often their good workclothes.)

So I need something that's a good nourishing moisturizer, and that the

same time detoxifying and hypo-allergenic. (Oh--and I'm big on the

pure organic non-perfume-quality aromatherapy, too.)

Any thoughts? Kudos? Complaints? General comments? Suggestions?

Feel free to post reply either on-list or off. I'll get it either way.

Muchas gracias in advance!!

In Love & Light,

--Jen

Jen's back in the house! Yeah Jen!!! :)

I don't have any specific experience with the grapefruit seed extract or making my own oils/lotions yet, but I think there is info in the files that might be helpful. Check under "Member Contributions" there's a file called "Skin things".

Enjoy! :)

I love the book......... Earthly bodies and Heavenly Hair by Dina Falconi for recipes on making creams etc. The recipes are terrific.
