Guest guest
My family and I have taken ephedra for many years with no ill side effects. I find it most helpful for allergies and sinus headaches. I would love to hear your thoughts on ephedra and the FDA ban. Personally, I've stocked up on my favorite ephedra product from my herbalist (it is still legal for herbalists to sell ephedra), and I suppose I will grow my own if it ever becomes totally illegal. Guest guest
Hi Laura, There was a discussion a few months back when the ban took place. You can look through the archives for it. Not that we can't have the discussion again since new people have joined us! LOL! Just thought I'd point you at something immediate. Guest guest
Hi Laura, It is now illegal to sell ephedra in any form other than in tea. I have used and sold ephedra for many years. Taken for short term like a sinus headache is usually no problem. The FDA has been unde increasing pressure from many sides to ban ephedra. The last nail in the coffin was the insurance carriers increasing premiums to the manufacturers of the ephedra. You can thank the MLMers for the current mess ephedra is in. They sold products for weight loss to anyone who would buy it without any thought to whom may have high blood pressure, etc. Also tjhe media has not helped this herb. Everytime there is a death of a young person, ephedra was blamed. In some cases they were correct, but for the wrong reasons. One celebrated case out of Iowa concerned a teenage boy, who else could it be, took at least ten capsules of a weight loss supplement that contained ephedra to try to get the same effects as speed. He died and everyone blamed the herb. No one mentioned that the kid took a dose that is four times the limit stated on the package. There is a court challenge going on right now to try to overturn the ban. You can grow your own, but it will not be as potent. Hope this helps, James Laura Hoffen <laurahoffen wrote: My family and I have taken ephedra for many years with no ill side effects. I find it most helpful for allergies and sinus headaches. Guest guest
Hi! I've stocked up on my favorite ephedra product from my herbalist, because according to www.fda.com, it is still legal for herbalists to sell ephedra...and it is still legal for people to possess it. You can call Jared for more information if you like: 916-564-7500 ext 1041. I have referred many people to him and they have been very pleased with his service and the product. If you do call him, please tell him I referred you and he'll give me a free bottle, ok? The last time I talked to him he only had a few cases left, so you may want to call asap. And please let me know if you find another source. Best of luck to you! alicemagooey <klutzyfingers wrote: herbal remedies , "Kelli Bever" <kelli@c...> wrote:> Hi Laura, There was a discussion a few months back when the ban took place. Guest guest
http://www.botanical.com/products/bulkherb/e.html Here ya go. When I ordered it a few months ago, they said it was on backorder. This was within days of the ban so I figured ‘here we go’. But a few weeks later it arrived in the mail, the USPS <gasp> LOL I really have no use for it at the present but just like having something ‘illegal’. And if I do need it, I’ll have it if the FDA manages to get it off completely.
