Hey,

I am wondering if you all are getting my emails. i dried some orange peels and some of them turned red; is this normal or should i toss them?

Taste them. Smell them. The best way to smell them is after you powder them. You can even use some to make a tea with and try it. If it tastes fine then it's OK. Depending on the type of Orange and the time of year and the method of drying, yes you can get some interesting colors. It should be OK if you test it and find it OK.

Hi Elizabeth, I did see your email and didn't really have an answer for you so didn't respond. I would suspect, if they smell OK - no mold or anything - that they're OK. I would guess that their color changes when they dry as the dried orange and lemon peel I've gotten at the hfs is not the normal color of oranges or lemons. Anyway, these are just my thoughts. I dont' know for sure.
