Candace Yes. Some can go with just water. Some can go longer than 7 days. However, if one fasts, breaking the fast ( when one starts eating again it's called breaking the fast, as when one eats in the morning after not eating all night it's called "break-fast" ) -- how one breaks the fast is very important. One can't just start eating anything. One has to slowly break one's system back in, bby beginning with easy to digest foods. I can't find the Bragg book called "The Miracle of Fasting" on my shelf right now (if I still hve it I don't know where it is), or another book I had that told how to break a fast, but if memory serves, I broke the fast with soaked prunes. Then some plain veggies like cabbage or something. NO MEATS CHEASES OILS OR ANYTHING DIFFICULT TO DIGEST ON THE FIRST DAY. There are some interesting things about what the body does when one fasts for longer than three days. During the first three days ( yes it takes THREE DAYS ) for the body just to finish feeding off of and clearing out food that is already in the system. After that the body goes into a special state in which certain processes are accellerated. I can't remember all the details. I was a lot younger when I did this. But I do remember Bragg believes in fasting for one day, once a week, for a 3 day fast once a month, a 7 day fast once every 3 months or 3 times a year and don't quote me on this and Bragg is a bit fanatic about it but I think HE does one 21 day fast a year. Like I said, don't quote me on the details, i'ts been a while ! The longest I ever went was 7 days. Peace, Cathie
