Well, it occured to me to try putting some aloe vera gel infused with some Pau D Arco extract on the rash yesterday. And this morning. And the rash so far has not appeared today, as it has everyday, and yesterday was there for most of the day. The rash is gone. No way to know what eliminated it I suppose. Whether it was the biotin, or the Pau d Arco, or just the aloe due to dry skin.

Nobody else had a response to my question, but I'm posting this just in case anyone is interested.

Peace,

Cathie

Thanks Kelli,

I do take Garlic and Cayenne -- :-)

And have Doc's tape and have listened to it and already used my free phone consultation for something else, previously. :-)

The skin rash is probably as you say, related to detox, as I had gotten off the "healthy bandwagon" a bit with a bout of [potato chips, too many sweets and candy(chocolate) and even, yes, a McDonald's burger or two.

The rash never did re-materialize today. And now it's completely clear.

I haven't been on a total cleanse, but I totally believe in fasting and have been drinking water with lemon juice in the morning, lots of water, going into the dry heat sauna to clean out my system, cut out all sugar/sweets and potato chips -- No More Junk Food. Increased the intake of raw Garlic.

Today I had water with lemon in the morning, then a cabbage slaw with fresh cabbage, some scallion, purple onion, 3 cloves of garlic crushed into it, and al ittle bit of olive oil and lemon juice. No solid food til dinner. Lots of water.

Have you ever read Bragg's book on Fasting? I've been to nervous about going on an extended fast while taking themedication. But in my life I've gone on several 7 day fasts, drinking only water and once a day water with a small amount of juice in it, and totally believe in cleansing that way. I'm TOTALLY broke right now, and cannot afford to buy a cleanse. I had to go with what we had in the house, and the few bucks I spent on cabbage...

If it's not the Biotin and the Aloe Vera, which may have helped by soothing some of the surface dryness, it must be that finally my week of strictly restricted eating ( restricted to cleansing and healthy foods ) that is clearing the rash. We'll see if it flares up again tomorrow, or if it's gone for good.

Hi Cathie,

Here's my take on the rash - the body has various routes for getting rid of toxins - bowel, bladder, lung and yes, skin. If you're getting a rash regularly, I would say that your body is overloaded and it's trying to get rid of the toxins any way it can. Stopping the rash itself, without addressing the detox issue, may just be masking the problem, though.

I would recommend that you get Doc's tape and your free hour consultation with him to get his advice on the medication you're on in regards to doing a cleanse. I do know that raw garlic is very good for blood pressure and clotting issues. I would recommend that you start taking raw garlic at least twice a day and I would also add cayenne for circulation. This might set you up for being able to do the cleanse and really handle the overall issue. Get Doc's advice, though.

Oh excellent Cathie! Glad your rash is better. Cleaning up the diet and doing your cleansing/fasting will definitely help, as you already know. I still recommend doing what cleansing/fasting you can right now, and then decide what you're going to save up for - the total body cleanse? Others on this list have gotten there by just stashing away an herb or two as they can. It adds up!

Hi Kelli,

I'm a stay at home mom, with a disability. We rely on my husband's income and he is only a phone tech at a cell phone company. We have a house payment and bills and after bills only $125 a week to live on. We have a talented fifteen year old who is very gifted in her natural ability on the trumpet. We just spent every last penny we have, to put her in a band camp for two weeks this summer. Now we owe another $325 for a special Orchestra she tried out for and made it into. Recently, the family pitched in to buy her a much needed new trumpet, as with her tremendous ability she was still playin on a beginner's. All these things are building toward her future, and we are investing in our daughter's future at this time. We have no credit due to bankruptcy a few years ago and I have no plans to apply for any credit card. I have literally, with no money in savings and no credit, but bills all paid, had NO MONEY, I mean Zero Dollars in the bank for the past week, waiting for payday on Friday which quite frankly is going to be short, because my husband's company suddenly started shipping jobs overseas to India, which made the availability of overtime non-existent. Often, I find myself down to Zero until payday, and there is Always a list of things that need to be scrounged and saved for.

In addition to this, things that are on the list of things I hope to have money for soon:

1) breaks are going on the car I drive my daughter around in, to trumpet lessons she takes with a gifted trumpet instructor who says she will go far and make lots of money playing the trumpet.

2) Me daughter needs new glasses/contact lenses before school starts in the fall, as well as a school wardrobe. I finally "splurged" and went out and bought myself a few new summer dresses, recently, as my wardrobe is wearing threadbear and thin.

3) I need new glasses but will make do with the old ones.

4) We ALL need a trip to the dentist it has been Literally Years.

5) I scrounge together $30 a month for spa membership so with my disability I can exercise on a no-impact aerobic jogging device to rehabilitate my injury ( it's going well and improvements have been made the docs predicted would not happen. including veins clearing out the docs said would not clear, so I guess I'm doing pretty good on my rehab. )

6) I like to be able to throw my daugher $10 every now and then, and more often in the summer, to go to a movie with friends. My husband and I Have NO recreation funds in our budget. I WANT my daughter, these last three years she is with us, to have everything possible to set her up for success in life. Ad to 1-6 the fact that after these expenses, there is always something else cropping up: a band trip, a home repair, a car repair, and you can see how hard it is to make it on $125 a week after bills.

7) ad to this the fact that I am not motivated to attempt a vegan diet at this time, and I guess it seems pretty clear I won't be doing "the cleanse" that is so popular. I'm sure it is a good cleanse. I'm stubborn and like to do things my own way.

My husband is not motivated to give up meat, and he makes the money and I cook for him. There is not room in the food budget for a special diet for me, and me alone.

Besides, I am not really motivated to give up meat either.

I hope this does not preclude me from participating in this list. Afterall, I have improved my health a lot by just doing waht I do, without special cleanses. After all, a whole vein in my legt that had clotted years ago, is suddenly clear as of last summer, due to what I'm doing for myself already.

I'm stubborn and like to do things my own way, piecing together bits of information from here and there. We rarely get sick. We rarely need to go to the doctor for Anything ( I go to have my protimes monitored ). I spend a good deal of time searching the web looking for health info on my own.

Maybe in three years when my daughter is off at college, I will change my mind, have the available funds ( my daughter has a college fund set up for her by her grandmother left to her when she died ), the focus, and the desire to attempt such a thing. Maybe not.

I hope this does not preclude me from participating in the list, or in any way negate the progress I have already made on my own without the cleanse, or the knowledge I have of nutrition so far.

I realize the cleanse is very popular and no doubt effective. I'm just not motivated to take up a vegan diet, even if I had the money for all the special vitamins and supplies needed, which would be in addition to the food and vitamins I need to buy to feed the rest of my family who won't be participating in it with me.

I know you mean well, but the total cleanse, or any kind of specialized cleanse other than a simple "cleanse by change of diet consisting of foods we normally have on hand taht we all can eat" is not going to happen right now. I"m not even considering it.

Blessings, and thanks for your care.

Thanks Suzie,

I've been trying to work my courage up for a bit of a juice fast. I suppose I could do it just so long as I get my protimes monitored. I'm a little bit concerned if I stop eating entirely and fast that way now, my protimes will go through the roof.

Today I did juice fast til lunch ( had a glass of "just cranberry" this morning ) -- and at lunch I did the cabbage slaw again, this time with 5 cloves of garlic.

It takes a will of steel to do a real juice fast and I haven't in some time. I suspect, having reviewed the cleanse details, it takes no less a will of steel to adhere to that program as well! :-]

Btw, so far today, no rash -- so, so far, so good --

I knew better, eating those potato chips, and normally don't _ I had a bad sprained ankle and was feeling sorry for myself is what got me started. I rationalized it becasue they were health store brand chips, and my husband likes to whine for chips to munch during games -- but the candy,,, ugh -- i knew better

Thanks Kelli,

I appreciate your patience. I have no doubt in my mind it is a good cleanse program. No doubt at all. Just feeling frustrated with my own limitations at this time -- money aside, like I said, sometimes will of steel is hard to come by, and my reserves get channeled in other directions.

Sorry to be such a whiner... ;-)

Hi Cathie,

We all support each other here, through the cleanse, or our weaknesses when we indulge in things we know we shouldn't be having, or whatever path we are all taking to heal ourselves naturally. I don't consider you a whiner! I consider myself lucky for having found this wonderful, supportive and helpful group of people, and I'm so very glad you're here too!

As a side note, something I always say when someone comments on their "will power" - my WILL power is pretty good, it's my WON'T power that needs work!! LOL!!!
