Juice Cleanse

Hi, I am new here and am enjoying reading the posts. I have a question

about the juice cleanse -- is this safe for people that are pre-diabetic?

I had gestational diabetes so I know that I have to watch my diet so I

won't develop type II. I always make a point of eating protein with a

carbohydrate. If I don't, I have problems with hypoglycemia.

I do like the idea of a cleanse but I was wondering if it's safe in my

case.

I am at the point I know I need to do something drastic to reset my

metabolism but little afraid what all the sugar in the juice will do to

me.

Any thoughts?

Denise

Hi Denise,

I didn't see an answer to your post, so I wanted to send you some kind of answer, although it's rather a "no answer"! Sorry! LOL! Anyway, I would recommend getting Doc's tape and getting your free consult to ask him. My suspicion is that this would be OK for you, but I would not recommend you doing it based on my word. I don't know enough about diabetes to really make a call on this. The only reason I say that it would be OK is because of my feeling that the "sugar" in fruit is very different from other "sugars" that diabetics need to stay away from, and the fact that the juice cleanse will help get your body working better than ever, which would be a good thing for avoiding becoming Type II. But again, I'm not really knowledgeable in this area.

Anyway, welcome to the group! :)

Kelli

P.S. Oh, one other thought - you mentioned always eating a protein and carbohydrate. If the carb is processed (breads, etc) then you may be contributing to your own problem with improper food combining. Just a thought.

I am a type II diabetic and also a vegan. There are no sugars that a

diabetic needs to stay away from because of the diabetes, although

there are a multitude of other reasons to stay away from simple

sugars! ;)

I was curious about the juice fast for a diabetic myself, because

what we do need to be concerned about are the number of carbs in

each meal. I normally eat my fruit whole so as to get the fiber but

am curious if a diabetic could do this cleanse. gotta get out my

tape and listen again.

by the way, for up to date diabetes info you can always check the

PCRM site!
