Guest guest
Hi: I'd like to introduce myself. I am very interested in naturopathic meds, but I know very little about them. I have worked with medical people, even had kidney stone surgery (which didn't work). I actually got rid of them with some Chinese herbs. Well, the one they saw anyway--it was 3/8" large, and it was a little much to pass with conventional medicine. But the herbs worked, and I began to believe that herbs had great potential. Then I met a naturopathic lady who was months short of her licensing. She introduced me to a flu remedy that stops the flu immediately. I began to be a believer. But I am very ignorant and unlearned. I am almost uncomfortable telling you that I am ignorant and have done some stupid things. Even most recently, I put myself in the hands of doctors once again, and it backfired. I am having some serious perimenopausal symptoms, and I joined this list to ask if anyone has stopped heavy bleeding? A doctor several months ago gave me some stuff, and I take it every day. But I have to take more and more of it, and now I am spotting on and off quite regularly. The meds make me depressed and then not depressed all in the period of an afternoon. I have hot flashes in the morning (12 hours after I have taken the medication). If I am late taking it 2-3 hours, I begin bleeding. I have somehow developed (in the last six months) fibroids. Never had them before either. In the last 18 months, I have hemorrhaged 2x, and that is why they put me on these meds. At this point, I am terrified about stopping them--I have taken them constantly without stopping for months. Each time I am late by a few hours, I start spotting and passing clots. If I stop, I am scared I will have to have an emergency hysterectomy. There has to be a better way. My dad used to say "That's why they call them 'practicing physicians." And they're not practicing on me." I think he was wiser than I. Thanks for any help you can give me. Kay
Guest guest
Well, we definitely need to know more about your diet. A lot of this is has to do with your diet and lifestyle. What are you eating? Are you vegetarian? Are you a meat eater? Do you eat sugar, wheat, dairy? Drink alcohol? Most of us have all been where you ahve been. Do not feel ignorant. We are all learning here. You also need to request Doc's tape and listen to it. ONce you do that, you sign a waiver and you get one hour free talking to him. It is the best thing I ever did. I had seen dr. after dr. abotu some daily headaches for months. No one could figure it out, not even some of the alternative practitioners I saw. After speaking to him, he figured ou t it had to do with some of the product s that we had used in our new house( which is not brand new) when we were remodeling. The things we used are treated with formaldehyde (the plywood and such) and that is what was causing my headaches. Anyway--you speak to doc and in the meantime tell us more about yourself, your lifestyle and what you are eating. Guest guest
So what kind of bread do you eat? I need you to be more specific. What is a day of food like for you? What are the side effects of the meds you are on? Guest guest
Hi Kay, Elizabeth gave you some very good advice - Doc's tape and free phone call, plus the Female Formula in the files. I didn't see any responses to your post on diet, so I thought I'd chime in here. You didn't say if you were eating organic or conventional, but I'm going to assume conventional. Given that, since you are on the Atkins diet, your are eating a lot of animal products (meat and dairy) that are riddled with hormones, antibiotics, and anything else they shove in those poor polluted animals. This is going to play HELL with your body and especially your hormones. Conventional animal products send my hormones on a roller coaster! Atkins really is not a healthy diet either. Search through the archives and look for some posts a few months back with the subject "Friends don't let friends do Atkins". Not only are there the general animal product issues as mentioned above, but meat and dairy put the body in an acidic state, which sets you up for all sorts of imbalances and even diseases. Your body needs to be on the alkaline side of pH, and this comes from lots of raw fruits and vegetables. I know that this information may seem all upside down from what we're told these days, but check out the info on this web site http://www.living-foods.com/ as a start, and do your own research. I figured that the info I had before must be wrong, because otherwise I'd be healthy! Right? Well, I found this wonderful group of people here, cleaned up my act (and body! LOL!) and I've never been healthier! Welcome to the group! I hope you enjoy yourself here!
