Diane,

It sounds to me like you may have a perforated ear drum. Unfortunately, the only thing I know to do is to see a doctor. When I was a kid, my ENT would patch my eardrums with cigarette papers. LOL!

I will tell you not to put anything else IN your ear until you know for sure because it will get behind your eardrum. An exception to this might be an alcohol based tincture since it will dry. Perhaps try making a tincture of garlic and mullien with 100 proof vodka instead of using the olive oil.

In addition to this, make a warm rice-sock and to sleep with. That should help relieve some of the aching.

I burst an ear drum 3 winters ago, and couldn't hear out of that ear for nearly 3 months. I did end up going to the doctor because I was in such pain and nothing would ease it.

The doctor confirmed my ear drum was burst, prescribed antibiotics (the only time in the last 10 years I'd taken any). It took 2 rounds to clear up the infection.

I was also taking LOTS of garlic, goldenseal, echinacea, bioflavanoids, Vit.C... and anything else I could think of to boost my immune system. By the time it healed, the doctor couldn't even tell it had ever burst~ healed up completely. I met 2 other people who had burst an ear drum at one time or another and both of them said it took nearly a year to get their hearing back, so I Know it was the herbs and vitamins that helped me heal quicker.
