Guest guest
Glenn, my 1st pcp put me on effexor (anti-depressant), valium, pain medicine and sleep meds. Also, I was on nasacort for post-nasal drip and allergra for bad allergies. I think that effexor may have screwed my body up. I know that i didn't really want to do hardly anything while on that medicine and it made me MORE depressed. At first I thought it was working....but now, looking back, i think it made me worse. I felt better being off all the meds but NOW my allergies are bad, runny nose and sneezing. I am MAJORLY allergic to house dust. I have been trying to clean my house as much as I can but sometimes I don't have the energy to clean alot more than I should. I have been on Bromelain plus n-acetyl acid to make an antihistamin but it doesn't seems to be working. I am more positive than even that I am having food allergies or maybe it is the house dust that is making me worse plus i am not absorbing my foods well. All my ent is saying is that I have acid reflux...EVERYBODY has reflux but some people have it more than others. he told me to have a barium swallow but I am not going to do it. i think it is a waste of my time and money. Are you having more health problems? The SSRI's (i.e., Prozac) make you feelunmotivated, and a prolonged use of them acclimates the body to aslow pace, they say, so the condition may continue once the meds arestopped. I stopped taking these meds 2 years ago and still feel likeI'm on them.I've spent $800 on acupuncture and herbs but am still not cured. Onereason may be that I didn't exercise during treatment (not done for avariety of reasons). Now I'm exercising (30 mins of solid jogging 3-4 times a week), and I'm hoping that someone here knows of a better, faster way to treat this condition? Or maybe that just by exercisingand eating right (etc.) I'll cure myself? How long before thathappens? The acupuncturists said that the thick yellow coating on my tongueshows that my middle and lower burners aren't working right, and thatmy spleen isn't extracting nutrients from food and that my lowerburner isn't excreting toxins. They said phlegm is difficult to cure b/c it's "sticky," andeverything contributes to it. My diet has been bland (no sugar ordairy, nothing deep-fried, nothing terribly oily) for nearly a year. I could cry that I work in New Jersey and can't eat bakery goods or NJ's excellent pizza...and I'll go nuts thinking about not eating icecream this summer!! :-( Anyway, I'm tired of this and of not being able to remember things.I want to speed things up and don't want to spend a lot of moneytrying to find the right doctor. Any suggestions? Many, many thanks.glenn Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Messenger
Guest guest
My daughter, when she started acting out terribly (like violent outbursts at school and cussing out teachers..) at 13 was mandatorily placed in "facilities" in Fl.. They call it a "baker act", if an authority viewed you as a danger to yourself or others then you are incarcerated in a mental institution for 72 hours (minimum) and your parents have no say about it...including what meds they give you while there.:-( And boy howdy , do they give meds..:-(( Within 1 years time she was "baker acted" 8 times and was put on Serzone, Buspar, Lithium, Effexor, and Prozac just to name a FEW..that's not all, I just can't remember the names. And we're talkin' all at once, not one thing at a time.. Dr.'s called it a "cocktail". The more meds she was on , the worse the behavior got. Worse thing is, say if they put you on an anti-psychotic like Serzone, and you are not psychotic, it sure nuf will make you psychotic..:-( Or anti-anxiety drug , with an anti-psychotic...bad news.. We had to go all the way to Gov.Bush for intervention with state facilities so they would comply with our demands to get her taken off all medications and treat her with diet and plain ole' love and nurturing...It was a bad scene that lasted from April 1999 to March 2002... Well, all this to say that it's taken 2 years to get her physical symptoms from the meds under control...Completely vegan diet, pure water, pure air, lots of sleep, exercise..No television (for some reason that really aggrivated things..) She's done somewhat better with periodic juice fasting where I make here tons of fresh carrot juice. .still she has a hard time remembering things and she has issues with water retention ,I believe from the Lithium. That made her hyperhydrosis a lot worse.:-( I'm sure someone will be able to give you some solid advice here. Guest guest
Oh that would make me FURIOUS if some one locked Brock up and pumped him full of drugs. I get real tired of hearing these stories of the gov. doing whatever they want to our children. Guest guest
Sue, I'm fine except for the memory, etc., I mentioned earlier. I got off Amazon.com " Arisal of the Clear " by Bob Flaws for $12 or so ($8.95, Blue Poppy Press, I think). Helpful. I jog 30 mins ev. otr day and it is helping. I'd see an acupuncturist wkly but it's $80 a visit.... I'm doing things on my own for a month to see what happens. After 6 years, I don't think another mo. will kill me. I'll keep you posted as to how things turn out. Oh, Flaws talks about the Chinese way of dealing with obesity, food allergies, etc. It was enlightening. His book was helpful (vague in some other ways), but a springboard for other books on Chinese diet. It is a bit of a culture shock -- no coffee, cut down on sugar (drastically!), eat more grains, etc. -- so I'm going that route now. Maybe it'll work for you? I am MAJORLY allergic to house dust. How awful for you and your family. I'm praying I don't have to have an organic diet or anything or eat " pure " foods or anything! Everyone here has been supportive and offered different advice that I'm investigating. Many thanks to your post, and good luck to you.
