I take my son to the local Books A Million on Saturdays for a two hour Yu Gi Oh fest...lol...and while I am there I sit with my notebook and go through books and magazines while making notes. Today I got my hands on a copy of The Herb Quarterly. In there, they had an article about asthma and breathing issues. This of course, has a lot of interest to me as this is an issue I have dealt with my entire life!

Anyway, one of the things that was suggested for coughs and sore throats was a Mullein tea. There were other suggestions but Mullein was something I KNEW I had at home. I had stopped to get some ginger root prior to getting to the store so I could make ginger tea when I got home. well, this suggestion of drinking Mullein tea got me thinking, so while I was putting together my ginger tea I had my tea kettle going and my mullein in my tea infuser. The suggestion was that this tea must be taken hot for its best effect. I let the tea steep for about 5 minutes...and drank that baby while I was waiting for my ginger tea to finish. Let me just tell you I am totally amazed. I had been doing those little clear your throat type of coughs all day and my throat was a bit scratchy. By the time I was finished with the cup of tea I did not feel the need to cough at all and my throat felt completely fine.

All I can say is wow! The suggestion was to have a cup of tea per day for maintenance purposes. I can see this as something I will do while sitting at the computer in the evenings after supper.

Just wanted to share!
