Guest guest
Hi! My name is Kim, and I am a newbie to the list. I have always been facinated by the medicinal and culinary uses of herbs, but mostly the former. I am excited to find this list! I am a homeschooling mom of 2 young children and a wife of a wonderful, hard working man, who takes her duties to keep us healthy and well, naturally, seriously. I am getting ready to take my lifelong interest through a formal education and become a Master Herbalist. I am still filtering through the schools, checking out finacial aid and scholarship options, etc, but " Doc's " recommendation for CCNH helped alot. I have gone through the archives a bit, and really liked what I was seeing. I really hope to learn alot and share my experiences with you all. Am I correct in thinking that you guys do seed swaps? I am finally moving back out to the country this summer to my little house in the woods, and am going to totaly revamp the landscaping to include mostly herbs, and maybe a few flowers I can't live without. In the meantime, I have been pouring through seed catalogs to find what I want/need. I am also greatly interested in using herbs for natural dyes for yarns, as I spin wool, alpaca, llama, angora, and mohair. Using herbs in my homemade cheeses is an interest as well. And of course, essential oils in my homemade theraputic soaps. Just a little snippet of experience from me, when I feel like I have any bug coming on, stomach, intestinal, or flu, I make a yummy garlic infusion and add some raw honey when it is done, and I feel better immediately! Gotta love that stuff! Oh, and one more question. How many of you are into using herbs as alternative medicine for pets and livestock? I have dogs, a cat, goats, steers, horses, pigs, chickens and rabbits. I am really interested in learning what you know in this area. I may not post alot, I am a busy person, but I read the posts daily, and when I find something to post about that I can't pass up, I tend to post long (just trying to fairly forewarn you). But, please don't let that turn you away from my posts when you see them. Kim S. ~ in beautiful W. Wash.
