Guest guest
Wow great info! I did not know it was Wintergreen too! I have a little of that! Thanks for the link too, Waymon. I can tell you about my class without giving details. The teachers name is Beth and she lives in a farming town in north Georgia. Sh eis a student of Dr Christopher, Rosemary Gladstar and RIchard Schultz. (seems to be the strogest influences) Her local class meets once a month there and breing in completed assignments. I am one of only 2 long distance students. They are learning wildcrafting too, which doesn't help me much cuz I livein the Las Vegas area. Not allot of stuff I can go out into the " woods " to get. I can get Ephedra though.... 1.We have learned about the nervous system and nervines, health and care of, formulas, Infusions, decoctions etc. 2.Liver health, cleanses, how to make oils, salves, ointments, balms, alterative herbs. 3. Tinctures, Liniments, capsuls, pills/lozenges. The Respiratory system. 4.Therepudic wines, ELixers, Glycerites, vinegars, Oxymel, Powders, Suppositories and the urinary system 5. Herbs for children: herbal teas, candy, syrups, baths, powders, tinctures, popsicles, enemas. And the Digestive system. There are 10 lessons and this is as far as I have gotten. Very fun though for $375. I just wish I could go to the classes and share experiences with everyone about making the stuff and how it is working. Guest guest
I Wasn't sure about posting links to the group so I just sent it to you. It sounds as if you're getting a lot of info from your class. How's that candy section? It would be cool to know how to make my own herbal candy. I'll be starting one soon by distance. There's a course about an hour and fifteen minutes from me but I thought the distance route would be better for me. The one I'll be involved in is from, Dominion Herbal College, in Canada. Dr. Christopher, went there and they've been around for a long time. They have a summer session that I can attend when I've completed the distance portion if I like. There's also the possibility of the herb walk portion of the local one. Are you going to practice in NV, or just take care of yourself and friends? If you decide to go "whole hog" for the ND route the Naturopathic certification Board is in 'Vegas. They're having a convention this summer. The info is on their site. Waymon Friends. Fun. Guest guest
Hi Waymon, I am not sure how far I am going to go with this. Right now I am just enjoying learning the info. I will use it for family and friends at first and if it develops into anything else, great. Your calss sounds intersting too. It would really be nice to be face- to-face with someone. " My " class gets together and makes things, last month it was natural cleaners and personal care products. You can read all kind of things in books, but to really " see " would be huge. I made Dr Christophers tooth powder and I feel like " Shrek " when I brush my teeth. Part of me wonders if I did it right.... The Horehound candy that I made doesn't seem right either, too grainy. But the teacher said it was great, better than hers. I kept trying to get it to the " hard ball " stage that you use for real candy and just decided it was not going to happen. Here is the recipe 2 ounces horehound herb, dried 1 1/2 pints distilled water 3 1/2 ponds sugar. decoct herbs down to 1 pint, strain, add sugar. Simmer down to thick consistency, don't allow to scorch. pour onto flat pan, cut into sticks or squares when firm enough to retain shape. I guess you could do this with any herb?
