STABLE! i am very intersted in what the group says. annie
Guest guest
I agree. You need to use the meds in combination with a healthy diet and supplements, but to get off of them completely with natural alternatives is not only dangerous but unwise. Bipolar runs in my family and I know the heartbreak this has caused our family by those members who are afflicted with it and their efforts to quit the drugs for alternatives. Guest guest
Hello Annie, I'd like to know who that was in Seattle, I live nearby. This 'guru' is pretty off base to make a sweeping statement like that. It has been cured and continues to be. It may not be easy....the best is for the practitioner to work with a family member/advocate to keep information and the protocol running well. Combinations of homeopathy, eating organic whole foods, no additives/chemicals, certain supplementation, cranial sacral and some meditation & yoga techniques work well. It's never good to go off medication if already on any while the healing process is going on, then should follow a doctor-guided weaning as it improves. Sounds like you've been doing a great job so far Liz , " orfanannie69 " <orfanannie69 wrote: > > > > > Does anyone know how to get off psychiatric drugs for bipolar onto alternative nutrients? > >my mother in law went to a seminar in seattle a few months ago and it was all about overcoming depression and such. the presenter who was an all natural guru said that the bipolar can't be treated naturally. that there are things to do with nutrients diet exercise but because of the mood swings.. ups and downs that it has to be managed with medication. this was interesting to us as a family as we have a son that suffers from bipolar. his dosage of medication are low as he eats healthy and exercises regularly. also he takes vitamin e multivitamin zinc and high dose of vitamin d. i to would love for him to be off all medication but as he jsut turned 18 i like him where he is now.. Guest guest
while i appreciate your comment about my son being a normal healthy teenager, this is not the case with my son. i have three other children all teenagers and they are the normal ones. with normal hormonal and teen issues. we did not go into diagnosis with blinders on nor did we take the first doctors opinion. and we did all the other testing available such as mri's to rule out organic issues. we saw mood swings as early as eight years old. i am not going to go into all the details of issues but please understand i am not one of those parents who is just looking for a label to throw on my kid because i don't like the way he behaves. my mother acts the same way my teen does and she is 60 so i am thinking genetic link to bipolar as she is undiagnosed. , shaman urban <shaman_urban wrote: > > > Your son is probably not a bi-polar but probably an healthy teenager with all the existentialist and hormonal turmoil of a regular child is age. Guest guest
Yes, and keeping the medications in place you have the base-line and stability while healing with the other things. The tools I mentioned are able to eventually get the person far enough along that the meds are not needed....again, weaning with medical guidance being critical, and having a supportive person in place all along to report progress, etc. It must be difficult to have it in the family. That would relate to how we address genetic predisposition/weaknesses within certain layers of treatment in homeopathy. It's part of treating the whole person, the roots in family genetics and all that has been built upon it which is unique to each person. I would imagine other systems that treat the whole person like acupuncture and traditional chinesse medicine have also helped. Be well, Liz , " Bamboo Chik " <bamboochik wrote: > > I agree. Guest guest
> > Does anyone know how to get off psychiatric drugs for bipolar onto alternative nutrients? > I am new To this community, and I am incredibly thrilled to be a part of it. May I offer a perspective from someone who has lived through the incredible pain and suffering that both you and your son live in on a day to day bases. I too was diagnosed Bi-polar, Not the type with the ups and downs so much as the constant DOWNS... That being said I was a virtual drug cocktail for several years, an experiment in psychotropics. I became fat, bloated, irritable and all emotions and physical symptoms in between. Finally a combination of drugs was found that " stabilized " me. Certainly did not bring me to dance in the meadows if you know what I mean. I had enough and I took charge and began my journey into alternative methods of conquering this demon. What I discovered was, It is not the medication that most people fear, It is the SIDE EFFECTS of those medications, and furthermore, these side effects are often times cumulative. There is a distinct reason they tell you NOT to stop these drugs cold turkey, some of these chemicals will also store in adipose tissue. There is hope however, and I must agree with the other wise individuals that commented to your post. There is tremendous value in continuing to stay on those med's until such time that the body has healed to SLOWLY wean off the medication. In my case, the answer came in the form of meditation, High dose Vitamin C and Mega dose Omega 3 Fatty acids, & Probiotics. And FAITH.... I Hope that I have given you some hope because my life is a mere shadow of the life I used to live. There is hope, I am testament to that.
