Guest guest
Mixing tea tree oil with silver may greatly boost the germ-fighting power of each substance, according to a recent study. Scientists combined low concentrations of the two agents, then tested the blend's effects on pathogens that contribute to skin infections. Study results showed that the mixture of tea tree and silver killed off bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus (the cause of staph infections) and Candida albicans (the source of thrush). Creams containing similarly low levels of silver and tea tree oil could help treat skin disorders without triggering adverse effects, the study's authors suggest. Overuse of silver can lead to discoloration of the skin, while applying too much tea tree oil is known to promote skin irritation. Long used in traditional medicine to heal cuts, burns, and infections, tea tree oil may also help relieve conditions like acne, dandruff, and athlete's foot. www.medicalvedio.blogspot.com
