Guest guest
GABA is supposed to help with seizures for some people. I would research that one and ask about GABA. I don't have any personal experiences to share about it. Anyone would has more information about GABA and seizures, please post. Guest guest
Extract of Lobelia, applied topically at the onset of a seizure, has been found useful. It is no cure but it diminishes the length and severity of the seizures and shortens recovery time. You rub it in, usually at the temples. We are not neurologists, and cannot comment on heavy-duty medications like that! But we do know that keeping the LIVER clear is a main factor in maintaining health. In TCM seizures are said to be a result of 'Liver Fire Flaring' And the poor liver has to neutralize the drugs. Using liver-friendly herbal formulas and eating digestive enzymes can make a big difference. I suggest you get in touch with Dr. Ian Shillington about the Lobelia. His company makes good formulas and he has a passion for Lobelia. http://www.academyofnaturalhealing.com Also: strengthen the brain and nervous system by building it up with the world's (as far as I know) best brain food: AFA algae. It is FOOD, so it won't interfere with your meds. This food has been my mainstay for 12 years. Just a few days ago I got my first order in from a direct-sales-but-not-MLM company that is truly excellent in quality. I like to think I can tell good algae from so-so these days. This powder had a sweet, rich clean smell, beautiful rich green colour with just a hint of blue, and when I licked my fingers (you are dealing with a serious algae nut here) the uplifting energizing kick was instant. Even better: if you are in the USA, their entire line is available at http://Vitacost.com at discount. Too bad for me, but I can't sit on that information in good conscience. A friend of mine had seizures. Her medications were making her ill. She later found one that worked, finally, but she did feel a lot better on enzymes and algae. Anyway, take a look and read up. http://wildwholefoods.net Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com (blog)
Guest guest
I've heard lobelia extract to the base of the skull when you feel them coming on will work as a preventative, but you have to use TEETER CREEK brand, because other brands are not pure enough. From the standpoint of Chinese medicine, I don't know, I would have to examine you. - " cbhardison " <cbhardison Friday, April 17, 2009 11:51 AM Supplements for seizures >I have had seizures ever since the 5th grade, and I have a friend who I >recently found out has the exact same condition as me, so I was wondering, >are there any supplements we could take to reduce our seizure risk? Guest guest
Using DMG regularly will significantly reduce seizures. In many cases it has eliminated them completely. Probably the best quality DMG is by Food Science of Vermont. http://www.fslabs.com/vitamins-supplements/aangamik-dmg-500.php - Mercurius Trismegistus Saturday, April 18, 2009 3:26 PM Re: Supplements for seizures I've heard lobelia extract to the base of the skull when you feel them coming on will work as a preventative, but you have to use TEETER CREEK brand, because other brands are not pure enough. Guest guest
Friends, Adjusting the magnesium levels and taurine are both beneficial. make sure there are not food allergies present (gluten, dairy, etc). They irritate delicate neuronal membranes and cause havoc. The same applies to low grade infections. Proper oxygen supply (good breathing) and cellular uptake of oxygen are also important. DMG and B-2 help cells utilize oxygen. Good luck Frank is supposed to help with seizures for some people. Guest guest
I can tell u some of the best things that have helped me out, in August of 2007, I started lifting weights, and before that, I was doing yoga, which seemed to help more than any medicine ever has. Also, idk what your financial situation is like, but u might want to look into neurofeedback. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi all, As an orthomolecular psychologist, I learned long ago that the amino acid taurine and a zinc supplement seemd to help epilepsy. GABA and B6 and magnesium are all good supplements as well. Neuroliminal Training was tested by 2 volunteers along with 9 autistic volunteers in 2007, the results of that test are given at \: http://drbate.com/Vols1.xls -- Phil Bate PhD http://drbate.com - Free Alternate Health Advice Neuroliminal Training (NT) helps solve mental problems without drugs at low cost.
