Guest guest
I know many take them for their heart, but I also heard from Dr. Rosenfeld, a cardiologist on Fox, that B could also damage the heart and he advised his patients to stop taking B. any other thoughts out there- thanks
Guest guest
Are you SURE that's what he said? Hasn't he heard of homocysteine? And that Vitamin B lowers homocysteine levels? Maybe he takes Vitamin B himself? Christine
Guest guest
I'm positive he said it. He also told his patients to stop taking them. It was about a year ago I heard this. I've done a search on the internet, and there are articles out there saying the vitamin b's can make you more nervous. I've read different things, so I'm trying to get more info on it. --- On Tue, 3/24/09, C R <cmross428 wrote: C R <cmross428 Re:vitamin b good for heart Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 7:32 AM Are you SURE that's what he said? Guest guest
the 'family health guide' (2003) of the harward med. school says " it is prudent to take folic acid (400mcgm) and B6 (100 mg) and B12 (100mcgm) in pill form if your your (homosysteine) level is high, perticularly in people who have had parent or sibling get heart disease before age 55. They only work well when they are in the right proportion. Nature does not give us Folic Acid, or Niacin, by itself. Those isolated vitamins may have their uses, but taking isolates could be seen as taking a more benign kind of drug. If B vitamins are taken in wrong proportion an excess of one B isolate can induce a deficit in another one. That's why it is better to get your Bs in whole food form. Rich sources are liver (if you can find a clean source) Nutritional Yeast, Wheat germ, and edible algae. Guest guest
You misquoted me Ieleke. I'd wriiten: " the 'family health guide' (2003) of the harward med. school says " it is prudent to take folic acid (400mcgm) and B6 (100 mg) and B12 (100mcgm) in pill form if your your (homosysteine) level is high, perticularly in people who have had parent or sibling get heart disease before age 55. " pg 655 " People who promote medicine or other therapies usually don't like the truth, it looks like. And will misinform or misquote to make their view sound logical. I've been taking a lot of Vitamins B for years, 3 B-complex caps + 100/200mg B6 + 200mg B3. And my brain's working much better. Vit. B is water soluble and any excess is passed off in our urine. (Of course, don't take 1000s of mg without telling your doctor) And when you take an isolated vitamin B, like B6 or B3 always take a B-complex with it. Then it is safe.
