Guest guest
Dear All, I have always had two problems: 1) Sleep for me has always been an outcome of some aid, like, some pills (alprazolam/diazepam/nitrazepam etc)or alcoholic drinks (which I do not take any longer, since a long time). 2)I have, what is normally referred to as " restless legs syndrom " ..what it actually means is, that my legs get very restless and I have to keep moving them every 15/20 seconds, till I sleep. This only happens during the time I try to sleep in the night but not when i sometimes sleep or rest during the day. But if i take the above mentioned sleeping aids, i do not get this restlessness. So my question is, can anyone suggest, some alternate medicine with low or nil side effects to help me sleep ???? If i can sleep well without any substance, It'll have a very big positive impact on my life... I have tried meditation etc. it does not work for me... Guest guest
Hi, I am using with great success sleep CD's from Monroe Institute. They use the hemi sync method of binuarl beats to work with the brain to help you to sleep. I have used this one for the past 8 years and BOY can I tell the difference when I don't use it. Make sure to get the one with Human Plus since that is the instructional one and not just a music one. Don't get sound sleeper, may Deep Sleep or one using the human plus. A big A+ for me over the years. As far as the restless leg. I would consult a great accupuncturist. I have had good luck going to the accupuncture for many things over the years and that is the way I would go since something in your system is NOT harmonizing. Just some thoughts. Guest guest
Hello, Regarding restless leg syndrome: I know this sounds crazy, but I have a friend with RLS and she says it works like a charm. Just put a cake of soap under your bedsheets at your feet when you go to sleep at night. Christine

Guest guest
Ok, if you don't mind a few other thoughts on the subject: Not sure what time you go to bed and even if you go there @ the same time every night, but assuming you go around 10-11pm: No meals after 6pm. NO anything caffine after 6pm. Start winding down for bed around 8-8:30pm. Read, listen to music etc but NO tv after 9pm. Bedroom should be " Dark " as in when you turn out the light, you see nothing (but your clock; and that should be in a place that you have to make an effort to see the #'s) The bed should be for 2 things only. Do you have any Lavender candles or inscense? About 8:30-9pm draw yourself a aromatic warm (not real hot) BUBBLE BATH. The more bubbles the better as they help hold the temp. of the water longer. The scent(s) should not be overpowering but more of a background smell. Light a few candles and soak in the dark. Do you like " New Age " or MOOD music? Try some of that while in the tub. Make sure that you can have this time to yourself....No kids, TV, phone, video games, movies or the like. (TURN THR PHONE OFF or at least don't answer it. They can leave a messege. The idea here is NO DISTRACTIONS so your mind can prepare for the sleep. Also, the warm tub will release harmones that will assist you in sleep, namly melitonine....among others. That is also been known to assist in the releif of RLS as it slows down the signals in the nerves that trigger RLS. As soon as you're out of the tub, head right to bed, NO SIDE STOPS for anything. This done nightly for a week or so will help you get a good night's sleep and also diminish your RLS. Know alot of people that this has done wonders for. Merlin PS: If you decide to try this, let me know how it works (or not) for you. , " adityanayyar " <nayyar.aditya wrote: > > Dear All, > > I have always had two problems: > > 1) Sleep for me has always been an outcome of some aid, like, some pills (alprazolam/diazepam/nitrazepam etc)or alcoholic drinks (which I do not take any longer, since a long time). > > 2)I have, what is normally referred to as " restless legs syndrom " ..what it actually means is, that my legs get very restless and I have to keep moving them every 15/20 seconds, till I sleep. Guest guest
Ivory is unique, because it is 99% pure soap. No fragrances, perfumes, deodorants, etc. - <roba Friday, March 20, 2009 4:27 PM Re:Alternate Sleeping Aids.. I heard it needs to be Ivory soap.
