I have been given new meds

well depression varies with each person-firstly some people really

need the meds and it's a matter of shopping around till you find the

one you are compfy with. i tried a couple and just did not want

them but i did try natural remedies---- St john's wort zinc, magnesium,

fish oil-it all helped- plus valerian or cammomile tea to relax and or

sleep plus light yoga and water----lemon water preferably---diet is the

most important of all---plenty of fresh live foods ( LIVE IN FRESH

AS) tHIS WIL HELP WITH THE TYROID AS WELL-ESP DIET------

--- when i have more time i will look up some more data , however

i know your back is a problem but you need to do some light

exercise or you run the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease,

varagoise veins and pelvic problems---depression also -you run the

risk of other problems- depression makes one lethargic as a rule and

so stimulating the circulation is a must :

take something for depression. Cymbalta is what he gave me samples of. When I

told him I was opposed to taking antidepressants he got upset with me and said

why did I come to see him if I was not going to take his advice! I have been on

anti depressants before and I had an awful time weaning off of them. I don't

want to go back there. I agreed that I would try it for two weeks and if I

didn't like the way it made me feel I would quit taking it. I am afraid to take

any of it! Would it be right to just not take it and say I did? Then tell the

doc I didn't like it and won't take it? I can't change doctors as I don't have

insurance and no one will see me without insurance. This doc will let me pay a

little each month til I pay off what I owe him. He has been a decent dr. mostly.

(low thyroid runs in my family) When he asked me my symptoms, I had all the

symptoms of low thyroid. From what I have read low thyroid can cause the memory

and concentration problems too.

leg pain because I could not function or sleep without it. I also had to go on

handle the pain without them. The doc also gave me a muscle relaxer to try for

my leg cramps. I am not going to take that either. I am uneasy about taking

drugs and I can not afford to buy it without insurance anyway.

Dear searcher,

From someone who is still trying to get on with life after antidepressant

withdrawal less than a year ago I will give you my opinion...don't go on them.

Trust your intuition. I know for myself, I took a test and found I was in

adrenal fatigue. Bipolar is different from depression. My husband supports me

being off antidepressants because I was a walking, non caring, forgetful zombie

on them and god forbid I missed a dose. The one the doctor wants to give you

stimulates the same chemical receptors in your brain that cocaine does. I would

have no problem telling the Dr. I tried them and found that I didn't need them.

Going off the same drug abruptly nearly cost me my life. Once you start it

would be close to impossible to get off. I went against my intuition (to not

take the drug) and regret it to this day. It destroyed my family life and

memory over a period of 2 years.

I take krill oil every day and a natural supplement for depression called 5

HTP. It boosts the seratonin in the brain just like the costly prescription

drugs for alot less. I also walk every day. I believe your desire to stay off

drugs is a healthy one. If they worked why are so many people trying to get off

off of them? I hope this helps you in some way. Namaste....Liz

If you are having low thyroid problems (hypothyriod) you might want to ask you

Dr. for Armour Thyroid. It's 100% natural and is made from freeze dried swine

thyroid glands. It's also fairly cheap and works well for most people that have

low thyroid production. I see no reason why your Dr. wouldn't let you try a

script of it to see if it helps.
