Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been around for a couple of months and have really enjoyed reading, learning and debating (primarily with myself) on all the comments and discussions here. At the end of 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, HER2nu and estrogen positive. Had lumpectomy (not in lymph nodes - 5 removed for testing), went through radiation and then a round of Herceptin. I am now on Arimidex for 2 and half more years. I am post-menopausal and missing my Premirin. Night sweats are horrid. 4 or 5 times a night, I wake soaking and burning up. Obviously, not getting my " beauty " sleep. I started acupuncture during chemo (which was FABULOUS if any one wants to know) and have been treated for the night sweats. It works but not very long so it was getting expensive to receive treatment just for the night sweats. I started into aromatherapy. After several experiments, I found that a combination of lavender, peppermint and basil worked decently. But still, not as good as I think I can do. Instead of 4 or 5 times a night, I am down to 2 or 3 and not so sweaty. Some nights seem to be better than others. My question: Am I raising my odds of a recurrence if I start drinking (or using) Red Clover tea? I have it in essential oil but don't really know if the aroma of it is good enough to relieve my symptoms. I have checked out Black Cohash also, but I have very mixed feelings (and reviews) about it. Your expertise is appreciated. Karin
Guest guest
Hi Karin, Given your history, I would highly suggest that you avoid Red Clover. It is a very potent phytoestrogen that stimulates estrogen production. There's likely more going on re: your night flashes than you may be aware of. I'd be happy to talk with you more if you'd like to contact me personally.
