Vinyl or Bamboo flooring, still trying to decide, need you're opinions. Has

anything changed in the last few years on the research behind vinyl or bamboo

flooring? Is it still considered the least toxic of flooring? I noticed a 5

layer vinyl flooring but didn't have time to research that. Don't know if

that's safe. The other side is I heard that bamboo is easily scratched and

dented, is that true for this group of people who have bamboo?

Thanks for your opinions,

Marian

Not  sure  what  they finish bamboo  with-you'd  have  to  look into  what  the

manurfactureres  use    on  it  and  research  that  yourself-----however

vinyl  looks  great--easier  to  clean   but  has  limited life  span  and  is

synthetic-----giving  off  fumes  -the  best  thing  is  oiled  floor

boards--------Dr  Flannery   who  has no  suynthetic    things  in  his home

at  all--has  oiled  floor------

I  never  really thought  much  about  the  toxic  fume  thing  as one  can't

see it  and  every where you  go----- there is  cloth  lounges  stuffed  with

dacron  or  some  syn  material-----nlon and rayon  clothes  etc   every  sort

of  cleaning  fluid  made  from  chemicals--------etc  etc -----then  not  so

long  ago  i  was  helping  my    friend fix  his  car -we  were  out side  in

the  sun-i was leaning  over  near  the  front  open door  :  and  he  was

under  the bonnet--------then i  noticed what  i  thought  was  smoke  comming

off  the   seat covers--it was  so  bad  i  screammed  somethings on

fire-----thinking  it  was  some electrical  fault  in  the  car  or  something

but  on  closer  inspection  it  was  the  synthetic covers-----since  then i

have  started  to  thow  out  all  syn  clothes--only  like  the   feel

of  cotton  and  silk  etc  anyway  and  i  am  slowly  elliminate  all

un-natural  products  in  the  home-bit  by  bit-i'ts  not  worth  the  risk

so  do  some  more  research  with  the  company.

Hi Marian- Vinyl is super toxic and will outgas for years. You might check out

Marmoleum, a totally natural linoleum. It's non-toxic and looks quite nice and

so far seems to be wearing well.

Be well,

Janet
