Guest guest
So, for the last week, I have been getting hives at midnight. Well, between 11:30 and 3am. I have been getting them mainly on the backs of my legs, but last night I had a few on my wrist as well. I am not getting them at any other time of day. I have gotten them while I have been awake and had pants on, sitting on the couch, and when I was naked in bed. I have not changed anything that I can think of as far as cleaners, toiletries, medicines, etc. I have not used anything on the dogs or given them any supps or medicines. I havent seen any bugs of any kind, and these are most definately hives, not bites. Husband and pets are not getting them. They itch so bad that if I am asleep I will wake up to dig at them. I am totally baffled as to why I would get them every night at midnight! Any ideas for me? Tiffany

Guest guest
What do the break outs look like? It could be bed bugs, they come out at night when they feel the warmth of your body on the bed. There kinda hard to see but if you look around your bed in nooks n crannies of your bed (like the edging where it folds up) you may see some. google bed bugs there will be a picture there of the rash and the bugs. You can't just throw out your bed either if it is that so the googled sites also tell you about that. These are just ideas! I hope you find your results. Guest guest
I;t is really hives, then it's most likely caused by some allergen. Since it occurs only night, I'd look first at what foods you eat at dinner time continually. Or, just go over your schedule for 6-8 hours previously to the average time it shows up. The other possibility is that it could be some form of herpes (mild zoster or who knows?) When you scratch it, is there any oozing of clear liquid, or only blood if you scratch too hard? If so, try coating the area with plain bar soap - wet your finger or hand, and get it pretty soapy. Coat the area, and then scratch. If that is some form of herpes, it should scab and clear up in that area within a few days. -- Phil Bate PhD http://drbate.com Free Alternate Health Advice Neuroliminal Training (NT) helps solve mental problems without drugs at low cost. Guest guest
I think if it was that, the husband and the dogs would get them too. No, they are def. hives. irregulraly edged welts, no bite marks, and disappear as rapidly as they come. Guest guest
Def hives. They appear suddenly and disappear suddenly. No evidence at all of them at other times. I havent started eating anything different. Can allergies come on suddenly? Guest guest
Those pictures you sent look just like my rash I have had for 5 months now. My bed is covered in plastic though and I just bleached the Mattress the other day And put a new plastic cover and bed cover and washed my sheets in hypoallergenic soap?? I have covers on my pillows as well. THIS is so frustrating I have had this thing since I was on a ton of antibiotics. Now they have to put me on predisone just to keep the swelling and itching down. I AM miserable. Right when I ween off of predisone the itchies come back like I want to rip my arms off and then the cycle starts all over. I AM SO Fed up with this but the rash looks Like flea or bed bug bites ugh! I have no animals and like I said this has been for 5 months since antibiotics DESPERATE and CONFUSED Kristin
Guest guest
Are you on anything besides pred at this point? Pred will actually make the problem worse in the long run, because steroids are immunosuppressive. They should only be used to treat acute issues while getting the cause of the problem under control with another treatment. Have you been checked for mange? Most are species specific and will die out in a few months, but not all cooties read the rulebook. Does your rash come and go, or is it always there? I'm not clear on the antibiotic time frame. Are you saying it has been five months since the last time you took them, or you have been on them for the last five months? What were they for and do you recall what antibiotics they were? Guest guest
HI Tiffany This is the scenario as best as I can recall? Here is my story I am trying to recap as best as I can. Take Care Kristin My feet started getting itchy and dry fall of 2007 and for an entire year they were scratched raw and bleeding. Horrible rash my doctor thought might be yeast or athletes foot. By fall of 2008 it developed into a staph infection. Before ER my doctor was trying TRIAMCINOLONE 0.1% CREAM 80GM and KETOCONAZOLE 2% CREAM 60GM on my feet It Started with an emergency room visit for a staph infection in my foot on 10/5/2008 I was given CLINDAMYCIN 300MG CAPSULES PROPOXYPHENE-N 100 W/ APAP 650 TABS Developed minor skin rash on arms and chest My feet started to clear up but I immediately developed a vaginal yeast infection Mild at first itching and irritation Was given another round of CLINDAMYCIN 300MG CAPSULES on 10/15/2008 by my doctor On 10/23/2008 I was given CLOBETASOL PROP 0.05% CREAM 45GM for my feet Feet began to clear up On 11/5/2008 I was admitted to West Allis Memorial with Asthma and a tinge of pneumonia Some drugs I was prescribed by ER Doctor were AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLETS 6-PAK And METHYLPREDNISOLONE 4MG DOSPAK 21'S Was on an antibiotic drip along with steroids in the hospital for a three day stay Still dealing with vaginal infection I was prescribed TERCONAZOLE 0.8% VAGINAL CRM 20GM on 12/3/2008 No relief On 12/16/2008 I was prescribed ITRACONAZOLE 100MG CAPSULES with no relief More severe rash began to develop on my hands and arms/chest area Small blisters under my skin on hands along with severe itching I was prescribed SULFAMETH/TRIMETHOPRIM 800/160 TABS on 12/17/2008 I was given a pelvic exam for std's and yeast and all came back negative. Also checked for herpes which was also negative On 12/23 I was given a third round of FLUCONAZOLE 100MG TABLETS On 12/24/2008 I was broken out in a more severe rash all over along with my hands swollen and full of blisters so I made an emergency visit to the dermatologist I was prescribed PREDNISONE 20MG TABLETS and CLOBETASOL 0.05% E CREAM 60GM On 12/30/2008 I ended up in Urgent Care with swollen fingers and tons of blisters. Could not bend my fingers on the right hand along with a rash covering ½ my body. Mostly upper body some legs. I was prescribed HYDROXYZINE HCL 25MG TABS (WHITE) for itching. CLOBETASOL 0.05% E CREAM 60GM and NYSTATIN (NYSTOP) 100MU/GM TOP PWDR. On 1/7/2008 I went in to see my dermatologist to explain the severe pain I am in with my vaginal area. A lot of severe burning and mild itching. I have been using vagisil over the counter 1 tube every 2 days for about 6-8 weeks. Doctor explained that there was not anything else to really try I needed to see a OBGYN and maybe they could take some cultures Still in pain no relief Dermatologist gave her one more cream – and it’s called – fluocinonide (for skin – because she cannot be on clobetasol – she’s been on it for two weeks - ) Vaginal area …clotrinazole-betamethasone – 15gm I have now been on predisone for about 4 weeks (Started about February 14th) Trying to taper off but when I do the rash comes back in a fierce way Right now I am using TRIAMCINOLONE 0.1% CREAM for the rash also Are you on anything besides pred at this point? Guest guest
Hi Tiffany, I had same issue a year before you, I thought first was a food allergy and got the antibiotics, but nothing happened, after 2 weeks, went to the dermatologist and diagnosed me atopic dermatitis, so gave some special creams and light corticosteroids for this kind of skin, changes started to come but no so fast, I started to ready about this and find out many information @ internet, but was trying to understand what kind of food or contact with my skin was the problem.. knew that the excess of citrics, milk, pork, fat, and sugar dont remember what else, was doing this, also the high work stress was living at the moment, and needed to exercise... changes were slow after started to change my diet, and then a break out again, then I ran to the internal doctor and gave some medicine for allergy, dont remember the name and another cream ? dont remember the names just corticosteroids, and then I felt how my feet started to change, recommended me to use feet powder with closed shoes... have not idea about this rash thing that was exactly about you say, for me were 2 years to combat it, now Im fine with no break outs.. only remember tht one day ate pork in a special mexican adobo here and then next day was full of rash all over my skin and got worst on my feet.. and dermatologist told me that if someone in my family was asmathic and yes my mom has been, and is part of the atopic dermatitis and my skin is delicate.. Hope helps for you..
