Guest guest
GOUT MEANING: Gout is a disease due to an inborn disorder of the uric acid metabolism. Gout, also called crystal-induced arthritis, is an arthritic condition that occurs when uric acid crystals accumulate in the joints. It usually affects the large joint of the big toe, but can also affect other joints, such as the knee, ankle, foot, hand, wrist and elbow. In rare cases, it may later affect the shoulders, hips or spine. Gout does not spread from joint to joint. TREATMENT OF GOUT: Currently, there is no cure for gout, but through proper diet, a healthy lifestyle and medications. 1. Proper diet: Avoid or restrict foods high in purine (a substance that produces uric acid when broken down). These foods include: sardines, anchovies, brains, liver, kidneys, tripe, sweetbreads, tongue, shellfish (mussels and oysters), fish roe, scallops, peas, lentils, beans and an excessive amount of red meat. Drink 10 to 12 eight-ounce glasses of non-alcoholic fluids daily. 2. Healthy lifestyle: 1. Reduce alcohol consumption. 2. Lose weight. 3. Medications: Using medications for gout can be complicated, because the treatment needs to be tailored for each person and may need to be changed from time to time. Medication treatment of gout includes: * Acetaminophen (brand name-Tylenol) or other analgesic painkillers - for pain. NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), more specifically indomethacin (brand name-Indocin) - for inflammation. * Colchicines - prevents or relieves gout attacks by reducing inflammation. Corticosteroids - for anti-inflammatory response. * Probenecid (brand names - Benemid, Probalan) and Sulfinpyrazone (brand name - Anturane) - to decrease uric acid blood levels by increasing the excretion of uric acid into the urine. * ColBenemid (other brand names are Col-Probenecid and Proben-C) - contains Probenecid, a uricosuric agent, and Colchicine, has anti-gout properties. * Allopurinol (brand name - Zyloprim) - to lower blood uric acid by preventing uric acid production. Allopurinol blocks the conversion of purine in foods to uric acid. * Losartan (brand names - Cozaar and Hyzaar) - not specifically a gout medication but is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, antihypertensive drug that may help control uric acid levels. * Fenofibrate (brand name - Tricor) - not a specific gout medication but it a lipid-lowering drug that may help uric acid levels. HERBAL REMEDY FOR GOUT: Due to their active substances, numerous plants and herbs were used in medicine and cosmetics already in the Ancient World. Those parts which are preferably used have been evaluated due to century-long experience. The active substances of a medicinal herb are not evenly contained in all parts of a plant. Sometimes, they are contained mainly in flowers, leaves or roots, sometimes also in seeds, fruits or in the bark. The following are the some examples of frequently used medicinal herbs: FLOWERS: Camomile: High content of essential oil in the flowers; used for inflammatory diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract. LEAVES: Sage: High content of substances with antibacterial effects. ROOTS: Valerian: The roots contain tranquilizing and somniferous substances. SEEDS: Psyllium Seed: The external layers of the seeds contain swelling substances good for digestion. FRUITS: Fennel: It is an essential oil proved to be effective against bronchial catarrh and digestive disorders. BARK: Oak bark: It contains anti-inflammatory substances which can be used, for example, for mouth gargling and skin washing. PREVENTIVE MEASURE FOR GOUT: Prevention is the best defense against gout (gouty arthritis). Losing weight and limiting alcohol intake can help ward off gout. 1. Reduce alcohol intake: Alcohol especially taken in the form of beer and wine can increase uric acid levels. Limit alcoholic drinks to one or two measures a day. Drinking plenty of water helps prevent further attacks. 2. Drink plenty of fluids: Drinking plenty of fluids especially water helps eliminate uric acid from the body. 3. Exercise and weight loss: Individuals with gout should exercise regularly and maintain a health body weight. Exercise also helps to prevent stress. Rapid weight loss should be avoided as this can raise uric acid levels in the blood. 4. Avoid stress: Avoiding stress is an important preventative measure against future gout attacks. A healthy mind often means a healthy body. By adopting a 'gout diet', taking regular exercise, drinking plenty of fluids whilst reducing alcohol intake, further gout attacks can be avoided. Guest guest
l suffered from Gout for about 6 years. So bad that l was only working 3 out of 5 days a week. Alopurinol 300mg was the only thing that kept it at bay, along with the occasional Indicid for the real bad attacks. One day l ran out of Alopurinol and was about to get a repeat script when a dowser showed me how to correct the Geopathic Stress in my house. l had a water vane and a Hartman crossing over my lower abdomen, thus affecting the kidneys. The rest is history, unfortunately. But we harmonized the grids and water vanes with my OR Disks, and since then l have never had gout, now 3 years ago!!! l am no saying that Geopathic Stress correction is the be all and end all. That was just my own experience. Gerard

Guest guest
My other half suffered from gout 2 weeks ago. I made him a tea of 2 tsp celery seed, 1 tsp of tumeric and a bit of organic honey to sweeten it, 3x daily for 3 days. The rest of the week he drank rose hip tea with hibiscus, cloves, and Vitamin C. When he had this issue in the past he was in pain for 2 weeks. His extreme pain was lessened to 2 days and was relieved in 1 week from the swelling. I read cherries/juice was a good preventive, so he is drinking that. Maybe this will work for other gout suffers.
Guest guest
My husband has gout. The black cherry juice works well but it can give you loose stools so make sure your close to a bathroom after drinking it. Also taking a good vitamin B complex will keep gout away. Keeping stress to a minimum and taking omega oils, multi vitamins and the B complex would be what I recommend. Guest guest
Hi all, I've solved my gout problem for over 40 years without drugs. First, I take a megavitamin/mineral daily at noon. (I use the Solgar VM-75, and have for 30 years) In addition, I take 2 vitamin C 1000 mg at breakfast and dinner. This way, the vitamin C doesn't take out the nutritional minerals in the VM-75. In addition to this basic supplemental diet, I keep frozen cherries in the house, and whenever any slight sign of gout appears, or when I want a small sweet snack, I pop a few of these frozen cherries like a treat. I'm lucky in that my gout symptom is only in my left big toe, so it's easy to keep track of. I've never had diarreah from the frozen cherries. I also only use cherry jam as my favorite.
