Guest guest
Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that can have many causes. When were you diagnosed with Lupus? How were you diagnosed? Medically the proper test to identify if someone has Lupus is through a blood test called an ANA test. If your ANA is elevated, then that is one sign that you may have Lupus. The reason I gave the explanation above is that many doctors will treat people for Lupus ( usuall with horrible, destructive steroids) when the problem is an allergy. Many alergic reactions to common substances can cause the human body to react as if the person has Lupus. An example of this, is there have been reported cases where people who consume too much aspertame ( Nutrasweet) came down with Lupus like symptoms. Once aspertame was removed from the diet the symptoms went away. Suggestion: Go to a good allergist and sit through an uncomfortable battery of allergy tests and also find a good homeopath to discuss your options. If you truly have Lupus you should leave your treatment to the professionals ( doctors of traditional medicine and natural healers) and be careful of suggestions of treatment from others. Lupus is different from patient to patient. What works for one may be detrimental to another. Good luck to you, I wish you well. Guest guest
Hello, I've got SLE type lupus myself. Fibromyalgia often goes hand in hand with it, I also have that. I am lucky enough not to be sensitive to the sun, but only because I've built it up. Every year I have to start over again when spring begins. I love the sun and being outside. If your daughter takes medications, that could be the problem. Steroids, some lupus meds, lupus itself- can cause sun sensitivity. I refuse to take any of the meds my doctor wanted to give me and treat it all with herbs and alternative treatments. If the meds aren't the problem but it's the lupus itself causing sensitivity, she can try going outside for a minute or 2 a day and slowly building those minutes up over a few weeks to where she can tolerate being outside for longer periods. This has worked great for me. I begin around this time of year and by September I can be outside for hours at a time without feeling ill at all. Also, if she's taking echinachea and goldenroot daily, every six weeks she should stop for about a week or 2. They're wonderful herbs, but they disrupt the natural fauna of our bodies from growing if taken regularly, and they also begin to not be effective. Yellow dock, red clover (with prickly ash!), and cat's claw have been absolute life savers for me. I take them daily. The yellow dock for the blood and immune system, will also help with energy, since we tend to get sapped easily. red clover I would not get out of bed without. I take 8 a day as well as drink the tea. Cat's claw is also great for the immune system and for energy. Olive leaf is another great one, as is neem. There's one i take called Bone, Flesh, and Cartilage- it's got white oak, gravel root, marshmallow, mullein, black walnut, slippery elm, calendula, and scullcap in it- great stuff! MSM is a must for me and it's really helped keep the flares at bay. I know it seems like a lot, but keep in mind, i don't take prescription drugs and only do herbal. Some may recommend DHEA, but be careful. It's not always recommended for lupus patients if you have the ANA antibody (I do), and can cause anemia in lupus patients. Make sure you check with a doctor before adding any herbal treatments if she's taking prescription meds. The green tea is excellent, there's also one called Detox AM by celestial. It's mostly milk thistle (excellent for liver function and getting the toxins out of the body), licorice root, red clover, and echinachea. It's delicious and great for me since I love my doughnuts, cakes, caffeine, LOL! I hope this helps a little. if you've got any questions, please email me at morgana-arian Morgana > My 14 yo daughter has Lupus, scholeosis, and fibromalagi, I am sure I did not spell those right, but anyway I have not found anyone in my area that can help me. Guest guest
Hi Every-one, I have an issue which I would like some advice on--please. I was diagnosed with systemic lupus when I was in my early 20's, I am now in my early 50's. I have had a stroke and 3 bouts with cancer and as we speak I am dealing with my 4th. I'm going nuts--my body is all out of whack and it is only getting worse. I have gained 30# over the last 2 years and will be going to a nutrionalist in a few week. I would like to know what type of blood work and other important things I should be discussing with the nutrionalist in order to start loosing this extra weight I have put on and to start getting enough energy to begin working out again? I have difficulty with weakness and balance problems on the left side, I also have difficulty hearing on the left side. I have had a total hysterectomy, high cholesterol, along with everything else that comes along with this illness. I am just wits end--any suggestions would be appreciated. My doctor does not believe in alternative medicine and I can not afford to go to a clinic near me for I just now after 4 years will begin to receive disability. Thanks so much
