Guest guest Posted February 23, 2009 Report Share Posted February 23, 2009 i have a friend who has been on effexor 37.5 mg. for about a year. she wants to go off of it completely.( she was put on it for peri- menopausal symptoms) she was reading some websites and is freaked out by how horrible some of the side effects are supposed to be by going off. does anyone have any info or help with this? i told her this group she should join as there are always a multitude of answers on everything!. i love this group! annie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2009 Report Share Posted February 23, 2009 as the warning states... do not stop the drug cold turkey!... that is what causes very serious side effects!... the patient needs to be weaned off the drug for several months... i take this anti-depressant. it is the only one that has worked for me. i wish i didnt have to take meds at all. i went on and off them for years. now my medical insurance has been cancelled, i'm not sure what to do... i would like to find something natural to help... ~carol ************** A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. Guest guest Posted February 24, 2009 Report Share Posted February 24, 2009 Annie, I weaned off effexor.. I weaned very slowly, by opening up the capsule and cutting it down in small amounts. Till I was only taking 1 of those darn little pills inside. Guest guest Posted February 25, 2009 Report Share Posted February 25, 2009 i just wanted to say i also took effexor and i did not have a good experience it made me sleep all day and up all night no matter when i took it, i was alway tired and than i could only sleep during the day, i am not sure why. but i also did not have nay success with celsta , it just didnt do anything for me at all, now my cousin she finds that celsta is the one that works best for her. i am on webutrin and i finally feel normal (whatever that is) now i have to also say that i was on paxil for over a year and i am telling you coming off of that i swear i could have killed somone and not even blinked. it was horrible. please if your doc suggested paxil please reasearch it not just by what i am saying but millions of others have said similar things sorry i just wanted to jump in there thanks for talking about this, tamara ****************************************************** Live, Love and Laugh Ms T. fundybaygal http://www.fundybaygal.webs.com http://www.mysticalinstinct.webs.com Laurence J.
