I have been treating an MS patient for several months now, and the results are all over the place. I cannot make rhyme or reason as to why sometimes she gets amazing results after a treatment and other times not. She also has bipolor disorder and takes medications for that along with medications for MS. She is overweight, has some dampheat. At one point I treated her dampheat nightsweats and although the nightsweats greatly improved she missed a period--possibly because the damp draining points brought up yin deficiency. Her main complaint is extreme fatigue and depression. Her pulses are very weak and her tongue has a bit of a dirty coating which is thicker in the back (sometimes just a bit, sometimes a lot), central crack, red blood veins underneath tongue. Here are the types of points that I have generally done on her: right GB 41/left SJ 5; St 36; LI 10; Sp 3; UB 23; UB 20; Du 20; Du 16, Du 3 to go to legs. When dampheat gets worse I add K 10 or Sp 9--dampheat shows up as dark urine and nightsweats on the head. I haven't focused on things like scalp points for motor areas because that has not been her main concern. I use very sallow needling, just tapping the needles in. Sometimes she gets a real boost of energy from tx, sometimes not. Lately nothing has been working. She recently added Lythium to her medications because she was so depressed, and from what I can see its just made her more tired, but who knows. I've tried to talk to her about the Swank diet and eating a scrictly organic diet without food additives, but she still eats a fair amount of sugary food and her doctor told her there is no evidence that the Swank diet works. Any thoughts? She's a really neat person (although a bit frustrating as a patient!) and I'd really like to help her. Laura http://babel.altavista.com/ and adjust accordingly. Guest guest
Hi Laura, I'm a practitioner who came to TCM because I was diagnosed with aggressive MS in 1998. 7 years later and I continue to be symptom free. Are fatigue and depression her only symptoms? What were the symptoms that resulted in the MS diagnosis in the first place? Guest guest
Hello Laura, MS is certainly a complex ball of wax. But what no one has pointed out was that Bipolar Disorder is also another complex disease. If you don't have Bob Flaws book on Psychiatric medicine, look into it and read up. Over all, you have to treat the pattern, and all of them at once. This will probably not be in any book. I've been doing research on MS myself because I will be teaching a class on Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Luckily the classes were separated into two groups, walking and in wheel chair, which is roughly where two major patterns split. Phlegm heat invasion of some sort happens initially, then moving into a compilation of possible Blood vacuity patterns, but definitely Liver/ and or Kidney vacuity. I found a lot of information doing search online with MS and Chinese medicine. The other question to look into is what meds has she been on, how long. From your article, it sounds like she just started taking Lithium. If it is not helping her, suggest strongly that she talk to her doctor about it. Lithium is a toxic medicine and highly addictive, with some horrible withdrawal effects-- like psychosis. Which will make her situations much more difficult. Lithium weighs down the heart, but the heart doesn't like to be weighted down too long. What is her lifestyle right now, and is there anyway you can help her slow down and start cultivating some Qi? That's all I have, Good luck. Rozz heylaurag wrote: > Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has advice for treating MS? Guest guest
Hi Chris: When you say your friend has auto immune problems, could it possibly be MDS? I am having problems with this only it has been diagonosed as Myelodysplastic Sydrome. I have researched the Mayo Clinic site for information on the disease. I hope this will help you find the information you are looking for. If I can be of any more help, just let me know. I also have back problems (had three back surgeries in four months) and still have trouble especially since it caused permanent nerve damage in my right leg. Guest guest
Dear Chris, Please tell your friend to not give up hope. There is so much that can be done to manage life with MS!! The only thing lacking is a magic bullet cure, Western style. But I know several people who have lived long and worthwhile lives with MS. This is the work of a lifetime. All aspects of life come into play, body, mind and spirit. She needs to learn the right balance between rest and exercise, for her. Food has to be organic and pure. Healing arts can be hugely helpful. Anything that stimulates the free flow of Life Force. Reflexology, Reiki, Healing Touch, Tai Chi (like a diy healing art) yoga, etc. EFT has been used with success. ANY auto-immune condition benefits from detoxing and healing the gut and optimizing the digestive system. You don't need a diagnosis for this. It is health building, not disease treating. Herbs or formulas that heal leaky gut are vital. There is a neat website by a lady who overcame MS using a special form of chiropractic and whole foods. She also has a consulting service. She only works with people who are willing to take responsibility for their own health. Take a look at Bonnie Selzer here: http://outsmartingms.com In case your friend does decide to call her, please tell her I sent her. Just for the sake of friendship. We have connected a few times. Guest guest
Hi Yvette, Thanks for reading my site. The main things that I did for my health that promoted the most healing is Fasting and cleansing out the organs then following a lifestyle change by eating healthy organic foods and drinking plenty of water and exercise. Now for the most difficult one was getting over everything that needed to get over, I have spent more time and energy on the mind then anything else, mentally I am far better off then I was 5 years ago. The most that I hope from my website is to help others so they don't have to go threw all the pain and suffering and the worse left with no hope. Guest guest
There is a natural cure! It involves the following: Since MS is an auto immune disease, it can be corrected with diet/lifestyle. 1) Absolutely NO Dairy products except butter (butter is a fat, it contains no proteins, however, olive oil should be the fat of choice). 2) Cut down on meats as much as possible. 3) Increase intake of salmon (wild caught is better than farm raised). 4) wait 3 months and improvement should begin! The most that I hope from my website is to help others so they don't have to go threw all the pain and suffering and the worse left with no hope. If I can just help one person not to live that way, it makes this all worth it. Just always remember what can enter can exit. Let me know if you have any more questions... Guest guest
You can get rid of the MS, I did. There isnt a herb that will do it for you, you will have to do a total body cleanse. Look in the files of this group to see how to go about it. If you would like to read my story go to www.ginakopera.com . Let me know if you have any questions. Guest guest
I beat my MS with a raw food diet. No meat, no dairy, no grains, no gluten, only live, raw, uncooked fruits and veggies. Here is my testimonial: http://www.webspawner.com/users/jansmsconquest/index.html It can be done! It may be diffcult to follow such a strict diet, but I'd rather live and walk, than be confined to a wheelchair! I no longer take any prescription medicines, and, as a side effect, I lost 81 pounds following this diet, so I am no longer morbidly obese! Nice side effect!
