Yeast infection in dogs ear?

Thank you to all who responded to me about my daughter. Now I have a

question about my dog. This dog helped me through the death of my

daughter just by refusing to let me lie in bed. I don't think I would

have gotten out of bed if not for having to take her out. I think she

may have saved me, so she is very special to me.

She has allergies to commercial dog food. She has had a bad ear for

over a month now. She scratches until at times she draws blood from

cutting the skin with her claws. I have tried several remedies but so

far nothing has helped. I just bought some grain free dog food to try

that. She has been on Lamb & Rice which has helped a lot. So I think

food allergies might be the problem. I tried ear drops for infection

and it did not clear it up, or else it came right back? So I am

thinking it might be yeast? I can not afford a vet bill right now.

If anyone has experience with this please let me know if you were able

to resolve it. I would like to try what I can myself. If I can not

solve the problem, I hope to have enough put back while I try, to take

her to the vet. Thank You

Dear wsearcher-

First of all, I am so sorry about the loss of your daughter and how

much you are hurting...But, it's wonderful that you have a dog who has

helped pull you through the grief. Pets are just wonderful for easing

the pain of a bruised soul...

Re. your dog, absolutely sounds like yeast and getting her on a

grain-free food is a step in the right direction.

I wrote a very comprehensive article on Treating Yeast Naturally in

Dogs for a natural rearing group I belong to. Here's the link.

If you have any follow-up questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sending much healing your way,

Try apple cider vinegar. I was able to have success with yeast in

the ears. I dilute the apple cider vinegar and wash out my dogs

ears- use a cotton ball soaked in diluted ACV. It takes a few days,

and then it should go away.

I love Dr. Gold's Extra Gentle Ear Therapy. It is alcohol free and

completely painless. The main ingredients are witch hazel and tea

tree oil.

It treats all kinds of ear infections, including yeast. It cleared up

my dog's yeast infections easily (he used to get them every once in a

while - would scratch the hair completely off his ear!).

It's pretty cheap - a 4 oz bottle will run you about $5.00-6.00. I've

only seen it at a couple of pet stores, but it is easy to find online.

Hope this helps.
