Guest guest
I'm currently taking 1,000mg of vitamin c 3 times a day. With no problem. I was thinking of my bright yellow urine (from my multi vitamin). I'm drinking enough water throughout the day. My thought is when your body is done with what ever it needs of the vitamin c it gets rid of the rest. So how do we know if we need more vitamin c? Do we keep increasing the amount til we get diahrea? Does this make sense? Thanks, Genevive
Guest guest
--- If your body get used to processing vast amounts of Vitamin C, and you go back to the normal amount, before your body adapts to the reduced amount what is known as " rebound Scurvy " has been known to occur. If you eventually reduce the amount you take, and it is a good guess that eventually you will, I would recommend doing so gradually. Blessings, Belial the Uncouth. Guest guest
Hi Genevive, Vitamin C is one of those vitamins that you can take in very large doses quite safely. An easy way to test for your individual vitamin C needs is to do a vitamin C flush. Buy the powder, ascorbate C, so you won't affect your body's pH. Mix 2500 mg (usually 1/2 teaspoon) in a few ounces of water or juice. Mix until the powder is dissolved and drink it down. Repeat every 15 minutes until you have watery diarrhea - not just gas. By the way - plan on doing this when you have no plans and can stay home! Track how much you needed and divide that dose by two. That's how much vitamin C your body needs daily at that point in time. So say you get watery diarrhea after 12 grams. Half the dose would be 6 grams daily. Split the dose into three and take three times daily - 2 grams 3x a day. You'll probably be surprised at just how much your body needs, but this dose will allow your body to detox and heal. Repeating the flush at regular intervals should show your body needing much less over time. For more detailed info, check out this page on my site: http://www.how-to-boost-your-immune-system.com/benefits-of-vitamin-c.html Good luck! Guest guest
So why do you need so much isolated vitamin C to begin with? Are you dealing with a certain medical problem and it was prescribed for you? You know, what you are taking - vitamin c pills - is only a part of the real vitamin c, which has 9 parts to it. I think anybody who does this to their body is putting themselves at risk of getting very unbalanced. Ascorbic acid is just one little part of the whole vitamin c - so you are causing a chemical imbalance that your body has to figure out how to balance itself, so it takes minerals, enzymes and protein from inside your bones and tissues and organs to try to process this fake supplement. It puts a lot of stress on your body. Eat bell peppers and oranges and other foods high in vitamin c.
