Guest guest
Dee, How is your friend? Has she/he tried massage therapy? I know it would only help so much but giving the muscles around the problem disc would help with some of the discomfort. Again I would recommend that she/he could try some kind of decompression therapy before any kind of surgery. My SIL has a ruptured cervical disc after an auto accident. She tried cervical traction (a type of decompression therapy in a sitting position) and couldn't handle it. She then resorted to a spinal block and it has given her some relief. BUT those only last for limited amounts of time. When I give her a massage I will take a pillow case and fold it length wise and wrap the base of the skull and bring it up over her ears and pull gently holding for a small amount of time to help give the disc oxygen rich blood. I do this procedure for several reasons. I know from her experience that it is a painful situation. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend. Heat will causeinflammation if it's the only thing used. Heat will bring oxygen richblood to the area to help heal, but you'll need to use ice to keep itfrom becoming inflamed. Some kind of decompression will help but youdo not mention what area of the spine is involved. > > ~ Melani Holt ~> > _______________ Life on your PC is safer, easier, and more enjoyable with Windows Vista®. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/127032870/direct/01/
