Guest guest
STATINS REDUCE CVD RISK IN HIGH-RISK PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF CHOLESTEROL LEVELResults of the British Heart Protection Study, released here Tuesday morning to a standing room-only crowd, show that in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, lowering cholesterol levels -- regardless of whether the level is considered abnormally high -- sharply reduces the risk of adverse cardiac events.http://primarycare.medscape.com/45045.rhtml?srcmp=pc-111601<a href="http://primarycare.medscape.com/45045.rhtml?srcmp=pc-111601"> Read it Here</a> - Teresa Hall Saturday, November 17, 2001 5:20 AM Re: Lyme Dis-ease Thanks Will! I am going to ask her primary, if she should get some electrolytes IV, on Monday. So far I have used only the Japanese Sawada Tx. and could only do her Yin side before she got to restless. The Physical Therapist did some massage work on her back... as that day she was having cramping, in the back and both legs. I am afraid to do to much needling, if any, until her constitution is a bit stronger. Here is a bit more about her presentation. The second day I worked on her she had some chills... the Hot/Cold seemed to be gone or markedly decreased (makes me believe it was part of the detoxing?) Forcing herself to eat a bit..knowing it will be followed by nausea... also gets very nauseated with any strong smells. The tick bite went un-diagnosed for 2 years, and thus this is why all her symptoms are very extreme. Tongue: where the first day,her tongue was very pale... second day it was red and dry... with thin white coat, yin type cracks are more to the right side of tongue, nearest the lung area. Pulse was very down, in the R proximal, Slippery in the R Middle & Distal position. Left proximal could not feel anything, L middle/ liver was wiry and the L distal/ heart was shi. Other signs... twitch in right eye, has had Bell's Palsy relative to the bite When relapsed occur she goes on a 8-10 week IV Rosiferan... Antibiotic. The flare up up began in April. I will get a list of Western drugs on now. Do not have them with me. I am scheduled to see her on Monday & Tuesday. Thanks! In Health, Teresa - WMorris116 Sunday, November 18, 2001 7:15 AM Re: Lyme Dis-ease Teresa, I would approach this as a combined Shao Yang - Jue Yin pattern. This would drive my point selection and herbal choices - when she can take herbs again....Xiao Chai Hu Tang and Wu Mei Wan. In the interum I might use papaya enzymes (Mu Gua). Does she need an IV electrolyte solution drip? Will In a message dated 11/15/01 5:04:02 PM Pacific Standard Time, Teresa.bodywork4u writes: I am hoping someone can give me further insight?! I know not to long ago someone presented a Lyme Disease case... I checked the Herbacademy archives and did not find anything, as I do not have a subscription to Itcmonline, nor the book referenced! Female patient, 55, presents with Hot/Cold & sweaty (had this symptom pre-detox from western pharm. phentonal patch, clonopine, actophine). Western Dx. is Neurological Lymye disease. She is having her 4th relapse in 12 years, and this one is the worse. Chief Complaint: Nausea, severe cramps in both legs, bilateral, 24/7 (calf muscles feel wasted or non-exishistent)... other complaint is Hot/Cold * - 0-energy * No sleep at all for days * -0- appetite -- 63 pound loss since June * Everything* makes her nasueated, including water * no BM and little urine because does not want to eat... because it triggers the nausea. Sometimes burning urination *In Menopause ( on HRT) * Emotional -- feels depleted and present this way, as well * On the outside body feels warm to touch, however on the inside VERY cold. Tongue is pale, with a couple of yin type cracks, very thin to no coat, wet Pulse: slow, Xu, first 2 positions felt slippery and wiry... is that possible? Also right proximal was the most deficient, with the left proximal feeling the deepest. I have the opportunity to work with her 3 times a week for the next month... so would love to see her feeling better! She has had acupuncture in the past and raw herbs. Presently she cannot tolerate any raw herbs. I am still contemplating my dx. Definitely Spleen Xu with spleen not nourishing the muscles; Kidney yang and yin xu, blood xu I want to get to the root... I can see several branches Chinese Herbal Medicine, a voluntary organization of licensed healthcare practitioners, matriculated students and postgraduate academics specializing in Chinese Herbal Medicine, provides a variety of professional services, including board approved online continuing education. Guest guest
I had stents inserted twice. I have a Cholesterol level of 3.1. my cardiologist tells me that the weight of opinion now is that cholesterol levels can go down much lower than 3.1 and that this is desirable. All very confusing my friends.
Guest guest
There's a book out there that I think everyone should read, who has been told that they have to manage their cholesterol with statins. The book is " The Cholesterol Myth " , and is pretty much available from any bookseller. , Anthony Moore <unlock2000ie wrote: > > I had stents inserted twice. If I had followed the advice of the MD's I would probly be dead by now..............Statins will give you more problems and the doctors will not tell you it's the meds, they will test you as long as you have the insurence to pay for it............Excuse any type o's
Guest guest
red yeast rice IS a Statin. It is mevacolin K, the same ingredient synthesized in the first statin developed, mevacor. If you take red yeast rice, you are taking a statin, albeit a less potent one.
