What most doctors won't tell you about cholesterol...

Dr. Ben Kim's Natural Health Newsletter

November 20, 2008

Dear Reader,

Here's a multiple choice question for you:

Q:  HDL is...

a)  Good cholesterol

b)  Bad cholesterol

c)  None of the above

The answer is...

c)  None of the above.

That's right - HDL is NOT good cholesterol.  And LDL is NOT

bad cholesterol.

Surprised?

This is just one fact that you'll get clarification on in an

updated version of my article on " What Most Doctors Won't

Tell You About Cholesterol, " available for viewing here:

http://drbenkim.com/articles-cholesterol.html

Few health topics are as badly misunderstood as this one, so

please consider sharing this article with family and friends.

Last weekend, my parents came over for a visit and brought a

big batch of my mom's famous " moo gook, " a delicious and

nourishing soup made with white radish.  I know, I know...

white radish doesn't sound very appealing, but moo gook is

truly one of the tastiest and most nutritious soups in Korean

cuisine.

You can find white radishes at all Asian markets, and they're

even available in a lot of regular grocery stores these days.

Check out the recipe here:

For those of you who have been following our " singing for

health series, " I'm sorry that I haven't had time to post

anything new for a bit, but I do have something to share

with you - it's the official site for Heather Nova,

an artist that I just started listening to a few weeks ago.

When a baseball pitcher is on his game, people say that his

stuff is electric - this is the feeling I had when I first

started listening to Heather's work.  If you appreciate

songs with lyrics that you can really connect to for

their honesty, I think you'll enjoy Heather's work, especially

her most recent album - The Jasmine Flower.

Did I mention that she has an incredible voice?  I just don't

get how some people can sing so well and make it look almost

effortless...I know they must practice a lot, but my goodness,

genetics have to play a part, don't you think?  Just comforting

myself here.  :)

To close, how about a thought on being honest, but in a gentle

way?

" People who are brutally honest get more satisfaction out of the

brutality than out of the honesty. "

- Richard J. Needham

I'm not sure that this is the case for every person who likes to

be brutally honest, but I'm pretty sure that most of us who have

been on the receiving end of a sharp tongue can connect with this

one.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and healthy weekend,

Ben Kim
