Guest guest
Hello All, In a nutshell I need to become “balanced” in my life. Without going into huge amounts of details, I am overweight (a 50 pound loss would be ideal, but I’d be happy for a permanent 30). I am a classic yo-yo dieter and unable to stick to anything long. Stress can be huge in my life, and the lack of funds does not allow me to seek out reiki, crystals, or any of the other fantastic alternative ideas people have suggested to others. My kids (5 ½ yr old and 3 yr old twins) keep me from “me” time…husband is home about 2-3 days a month with his current job. I am not working (I typically work from home as a sales engineer) and I’m sure that would be helpful – know anybody that is hiring? (I digress). Anyway, I really feel that if I could become “balanced” in my life – everything else will fall into place. I’ll lose weight, I’ll become more healthy, more energized, more positive etc. Can anybody who has experienced something similar enlighten me with some ideas as to what they’ve done to improve themselves? Thanks.

I understand that having a 5 1/2 year old and 3 year old twins would keep you from having any 'me' time, especialy without hubby there daily to help out. I don't have any first hand experience, I don't even have any kids, but I do believe that having balance in your life will not only benefit you, but the kidlets too I think that having the fridge contain healthy type foods will benefit both you and the kids. I don't know what you have now, but less sugary stuff and fatty items and more fruits, veggies and grains will benefit all. Any sodas should be eliminated, except of course salt free seltzers with no sugars added. Juice is good, and if on a budget, can be mixed half and half with regular water or seltzers. Olive oil instead of butter or spreads, yogurt instead of ice cream as a treat, granola bars instead of cakes and cookies are all positive switches that can be made. I would get outdoors and do as many activities with the children as possible, a simple walk to the park will burn calories and be healthy for all. Maybe when there's some 'downtime' for naps and such, you can do an exercise video from the local library. I'm glad you posted, you're definitely on the right track! I know you'll lose weight and feel more fulfilled and balanced, and you should get more tips from the other ladies here to help out. If I think of anything you may benefit from, I'll definitely let you know Jean/55/Co
Guest guest
Lisa, I have to agree with Jean. Although the weather is getting a little cool (or alot depending on what area of the country your in) a 30 minute walk will do wonders. Maybe an hour or so before lunch try taking the kids out for a walk. It will not only give you a chance to unwind but it will give you more energy. It will also tucker out the kids for their nap time after lunch. ;-) If it's too cool to go out then try doing the airplane exercise with them. I use to do it when my boys were small. They had fun but it was a small work out for me.
