Guest guest
It depends on what is causing the hair loss. Thyroid, anemia, etc. Nature's Sunshine makes a HSN Complex for Hair, Skin, and Nail which I understand is very good. I was losing hair by the hand fulls because of anemia. I take a Standard Process brand iron supplement (Ferrofood) and supplement that with Panther Piss. Good general nutrition is important - the Total Nutrition formula in the recipe files. I stopped losing hair and it is thickening up. herbal remedies , " fluffybunnyyy " <fluffybunnyyy> wrote: > > > Hi All, > > I have just joined this discussion group about 2-3 days ago...wow > very informative!! Guest guest
The more I am on this list the more I am understanding why my Dad gave us kelp tablets and blackstrap molasses as kids... Unfortunately my Dad died at the age of 41 of cancer...to the lungs.. but I think he was on the right track.. just didn't start soon enough... anyone heard of tiger milk?? is it a soy milk or almond or what.. I remember having that too...i think i need the molasses as my hair seems to be falling out by the handfuls everyday....
Guest guest
tiger milk is a peanut butter and honey snack bar...use to give it to my kid till I couldn't find them anymore. They were his fave snacks, we bought them by the case. Can't imagine why people wouldn't want to carry them. Guest guest
Yes it is. When I first realized I was anemia and started back on the supplements (before I found this forum), I started taking 1-2T of Molasses a day as the quick fix. It slowed the hair loss within the first week. herbal remedies , " tempo33x " <tempo33x> wrote: > > > Molasses itself is loaded with iron. > > herbal remedies , " zengirl04 " <zengirl04> > wrote: > > > > > > It depends on what is causing the hair loss. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I have a touch of hypothyroidism. I didn't take my morning temperature as suggested. I have had tests and the doctor said I was borderline. But I have other symptoms too like the outer eyebrows falling out which is a weird one and the inner body temperature is usually cold specially in winter. Also very cold hands and feet then as well. However, I have decided to supplement with kelp tablets as I can't get iodine here in Australia. Used to be able to but that's another thing they have swept from the pharmacy shelves here. So I will up my intake of that and fish and all the other things I do like juice carrots etc. I hadn't been bothering with the kelp before. I will also go back to iodised salt. I am going to make my own shampoos now too. I don't want to go onto thyroid medication. My cousin had hers burnt out with radiotherapy because of hyperthyroidism and now she can't get hers to stay normal despite medication. She spends most of her days in bed. I really appreciate all your input. Jen
Guest guest
Hello Jen, I wouldn't go with the iodized salt if I were you: I've heard it's a toxic source of iodine. Doc's Black Walnut Hull Formula is your best bet - it normalizes the thyroid's function!! That together with the Panther Piss. love Lisa - Jen herbal remedies Monday, February 21, 2005 9:35 PM Herbal Remedies - Re:Thinning Hair Thanks for the replies everyone. Guest guest
See if you can find someone who work with herbal supplements there- or get an Internet consultation with Doc or something. My thyroid wasn't working and I was able to get it functioning again with the assitance of a clinical nutritionist and supplements. Exercise is VERY important because it helps your system to balance out. herbal remedies , " Jen " <jemma56@d...> wrote: > Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I have a touch of hypothyroidism. It boosts a person's immune system, so definitely keep this up. Also the Total Tonic from Doc would be a good recipe to get/do. Hair loss can be a sign of toxicity, so changing to an organic diet, and avoiding as many toxic environmental exposures as possible, could benefit, if that isn't the current lifestyle. Another common cause of hair loss that I know of is chemical pharmaceuticals. (if taking any drugs) There are many drugs that can cause thinning and/or hair loss as a " side-effect " . Including several OTC drugs. Drug-induced hair loss can *usually* be reversed with discontinuation of the drug, but not always.
