Guest guest
I would like to cover my gray hair. I am 50 years old and my hair is making me look older. The gray is coming in more rapidly. I had one disasterous result from highlights about three years ago. The bleach and dye from the highlights resulted in an allergic reaction which caused intense itchiness, redness, swelling and shedding. My hair shed for about a year. It also changed in texture. It got straighter and finer. I never had fine hair until a few years ago. This was my first and only experience with hair dye. A few times prior to that, I had my hairdresser give me a temporary color that washed out. But I had no idea I was allergic to hair dye. I'm afraid to try anything on my scalp since I now have to be careful what shampoos I use. Some products cause itchiness. My problem is I would like to cover the gray since it is making me look older. Is there anything natural I could try? I'm not interested in henna since I'm pretty sure that would set off a reaction. Anything mild that could cover gray?
Guest guest
Hi I have a nervous itch on my scalp and I always used Henna and never had a problem, I also rinse my hair in apple cider vinegar, after each wash. Rinsing in ACV reduces itchy scalp, dry skin, Henna is a natural substance. It might pay to look further into it. You could try looking at http://www.herbalhaircolor.com/ also http://www.suvarna.co.uk/logonahairdyes.html  Hope these can be of some help. I'm in my 50's and have been using Naturtint for years now, no ammonia or resorcinol, and although I have no particular allergies, I find it's pretty gentle. It's permanent, 100% gray coverage. I buy it at my local vitamin cottage store for around $13.50, but it can be bought at a cheaper price online at places like vitacost.
