Guest guest
Hi I'm Melani and live in Atlanta, GA. I'm a 47yo that was diagnosed with a Grade II Astrocytoma in Jan 07. It is an inoperable primary brain tumor that is located in the occipital/parietal/temporal lobes of the brain. I could accept this diagnosis so I sought out a 2nd opinion at the Medical College of GA in Augusta. They concurred with my NeuroSurgeon here but suggested a regime of strong doses of chemo for a length of time. So my Oncologist and the Neurology department at MCG got together and decided what dose and length I should try. I took 400mg of Temodar everyday for 5 days and was off for 25 days. I did this for three months. At the end of three months I had an MRI done and it showed no change. I decided that I didn't want to do chemo any longer and put myself in the Lords hands to take care of me. I trully believe in the body can heal itself if given the chance and started researching other forms of Holistic treatments. I tried Reiki Therapy and after 3 months was told that it wasn't making any changes in the size. I tried TCM (Traditional ) in the form of teas. Nasty stuff but after another 3 months there was still no change. I was going in every 3 months for MRI's to monitor the tumor and there has been no change. At the last appointment with my Oncologist she suggested we go 4 months between the MRI's. Since my last appointment I decided after some further research that I would try the vegatarian approach. I'd heard from several people about how the brain tumors respond to a healthier lifestyle as far as diet and exercise are concerned. So 2 months ago I cut out meats from my diet. I cut out sodas from my diet. I juice fruits and vegtables as well as cook vegtable dishes that appeal to me. My boys don't seem to like some of the dishes but I hope they come around. I find it exciting to try new and different foods especially those that will help my body heal. I walk 1/2 mile walks around my place and have gotten over having to take a nap. Unless of course I overdo it. I do have " Simple Partial " and " Focal Motor " Seizures if I overdo it, get stressed or anxious, don't get enough sleep or get overheated. But then sometimes they come on for no reason at all. Since beginning the new healthier lifestyle I'm feeling better and have lost 8 pounds. I would love to hear from anyone of you about changes you have made to heal your body. Something that may be of use to me to help the healing process that I'm going thru. I look forward to meeting everyone. Namaste' Melani :-)

Guest guest
Namaste` Melani, I admire your spirit and eagerness to take charge of your healing. I am a true believer in positive affirmations for all aspects of our lives and a huge fan of Louise Hay. She has published " I Can Do It " and from that resource I suggest you use " Perfect health is my divine right and I claim it now. " Saying this affirmation several times a day and believing it will truly be beneficial. Release to the Universe that which you want and it will become yours. Abundant Blessings, Cynthia
Guest guest
Hello Melani, If you have not watched the movie, " The Secret " by Rhonda Byrne, that would be my suggestion. It has a great approach to self healing that I'd be using if I had your diagnosis. There is a book as well, but the movie is very dynamic, and I have personaly watched it over and over again because I love the message. Sending you love, light, and healing... Guest guest
Hi Melani Melatonin supplementation is a very safe therapy with some good research showing it can help cancer. it's the hormone in the body that helps sleep. It is however a powerful antioxidant and there is also other evidence that it helps slow down tumor growth. It also helps side affects of chemo and reduces pain. Depending on which country you live in depends whether you need a prescription or not. It has no side-effects and is safe. The latest studies use 20-50mg before bed. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hello; I have also read this; about Melatonin being used to treat this disease; I have also heard of Folate being used; Melatonin is also found in foods; esp. Cherries and Plums; I would encourage you to continue with your juicing; Folate in green juices I would add 2 or 3 tablesppons a day of Organic cold pressed Almond Oil; I heard Dr. Hoffman of www.drhoffman.com speak of using Oils for these conditons; but you cannot have any sugar; i would contact Dr. Hoffman; and begin to listen to his radio shows on www.wor-radio.com Definitely try the Melatonin; you can buy without a prescirption; ps I have been a vegetarian for 40 years; and i love my vegetaraina diet. I eat Almonds; Oatmeal; Beans; greens; frutis veggies milk cheese etc and I also add a lot of good oils to my food; and butter for Vit. A. Vita Mix is an expensive juiceer; but uses the whole fruit; and in your case may be a worthwhile investment; Celery juices are very good You are on the right path; you must remain diligent; stay the course;a , " anniepatrick3 " <anniepatrick3 wrote: > > Hi Melani > > Melatonin supplementation is a very safe therapy with some good > research showing it can help cancer. > > it's the hormone in the body that helps sleep.
