Everything was high - diabetes, cholesterol, triglycerides, and other blood panel work ups. However, one of the test they took which they took 11 months ago came back and my doctor immediately scared me to death by saying that I needed to get on a med to help my kidneys.. The test that was taken was called: MICROALBUMIN UR RANDOM NORMALIZED.... Three readings come from that test:. 1.) Creatinine Urine Random (which came back normal, 2.) Microalbumin urine random (which came back normal) 3.) Microalbumin Urine Normalized and it is supposed to be 0-30 NORMAL range and mine came back at 50. She told me that it was the start of kidney disease and could lead to kidney failure. She decides to put me on a med that won't cure it, or reverse it, but supposedly is supposed to help slow down the " process of the damage somewhat. " So even though I do not take any RX drugs due to the side affects being worse than anything else I filled the RX because of her " urgency " in her words. The pharmacist said " oh I see you are going on HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MED's.. " I said " uh, no I was supposed to be getting something for my kidneys due to protein leaking from them into my Urine, which according to my doc says I'm headed for kidney failure. " So he was kind enough to get on his computer and looked through the whole system to see if this med had anything to do with kidneys and the protein, which is the warning sign something is wrong. He found nothing for the kidneys... so I called the doc back told her what he said and was told " well we use this all the time for that it is an an ACE inhibitor and will slow down the damage, but it will not fix the problem. you will have to monitor your blood pressure since you have great blood pressure readings, so it does not drop. " Great the ONE good thing I do have, now I will have problems with because of the medication. My question after all of this is.... Is there anything natural out there that can help me in my situation with all these high readings ESPECIALLY the diabetes and kidney situation ( I was told the damage is due to the diabetes - although I have kept my blood sugar in pretty good ranges - not always, but about 80% of the time) So I know that natural things take longer to work, but I have to go back to her in 3 months after taking all these test again, (and her thinking I " m using the drug) and then she will add CRESTOR for the cholesterol etc. then I will be on 2 medications... The only med I'm currently on is Xanax for my panic disorder and anxiety attacks, which she really helped along by the comments she was making....lol... Does anyone know of a remedy that is natural that can help me? Has anyone had this problem if they are diabetic and what did you do to help it, and how long did it take to work (if it did)? I would appreciate any help, suggestions and information on this health issue from any of you that may be familiar with it, or personally have dealt with it. Thank you so very much for your time. If you want a more natural approach, get a second opinion from a doctor of YOUR choice. Guest guest Posted November 7, 2008 Report Share Posted November 7, 2008 Hello Gail, Some suggestions: Find a doctor that practices some kind of natural healing: homeopathy, naturopathy, ayurvedic medicine, etc. Eliminate the following from your diet: Animal protein (animal flesh, eggs, dairy products); this is too heavy on kidneys coffee alcohol soft drinks salt sugar refined products Have fresh raw garlic daily to lower your blood pressure Drink enough water along the day Eat mainly vegetables and fruits Decrease your intake of grains to the minimum and always choose whole grain. There are other things that you can do, but I can't continue writing right now. Feel free to ask more questions and let us know if you can do what I listed above. Trust me, you're not suffering from a medication deficiency as much as your doctor wants you to believe that! It is all so very overwhelming, but although I am sorry that others are also going through it, I am eager to hear everyone's stories to keep in the back of my mind should I need the info someday. I notice you also suffer panic and anxiety attacks, and wonder if this is common with diabetes? I too have those along with depression and agoraphobia and have tried so many meds with little or no luck to help with any of them. I wish I had some words of help and encouragement for you, but I don't know enough yet to fill a thimble, but send prayers and hope to you that you find the answers you need. I would appreciate any info from anyone that has any about anything pertaining to diabetes so I can get a handle on it asap. Both my parents have it, my Mom just diagnosed a month before me, my Dad for many years who lost both legs over 5 surgeries 2 years ago, an uncle who lost his sight and my grandmother as well, so it is strong in my family. Whatever I can learn now, may help my kids and grands should they develop it someday too. Thanks for listening to me, and all the best in you search for answers.
