Hello I hope this is alright to post here.

My cat who is about 6-7yrs old is vomiting everyday and has a rash? of

scabs, like psoriasis or eczema, on a large portion of her body. She

vomits after she eats. Sometimes it is whole food, like she ate to

fast and other times it is just liquid. She just started vomiting in

the past 2 wks and the rash has been present for a about a month now.

She does not scratch all the time or seem to itch. She is sensitive to

chemicals, things like flea meds that you put on the neck or bathe in

and I do not give her vaccinations. She is an indoor cat and does not

go out at all. I am hoping someone who is familiar with cats can give

me some natural remedies to try on her. She has been spayed if that

makes any difference.

I would call a holistic vet. Some even do homeopathic phone consultations.

Symptoms can mean many things.

I am using something on my cats that is keeping them free of fleas and it's

also supposed to clean them out internally and it is OK for human

consumptikn also and I myself am taking it. It's called diatomaceous earth

and it's a prehistoric shell, ground up very fine from earthworkshealth

..com. I don't know if it would help but it wouldn't hurt and I didn't want

to use the flea collars or the other flea stuff because I'm anti chemicals

now. You could put this stuff on the skin but not on any open sores, it

is drying to the skin and might help the itching which s why they dig.

Good luck

make sure it is food grade diatomaceous earth and not the kind used in pool

filters.

Hi,

If your cat is vomiting so much, I really think you should take her to a vet -

persistent vomiting can lead to dehydration which is very serious.

Even though your cat does not go out, she could still be suffering from a flea

allergy if a flea somehow got in the house - if a cat is very sensitive one flea

is all it takes!! This happened to my cat last year, she is also an indoor cat.

Again, this is something a vet can advise on - once the sore itchy places get

infected they really need to be treated with antibiotics.

If you really want to try her on natural remedies first, homeopathic Graphites

cream can help with itching. Try feeding her little and often, on easily

digestible food, as this may help with the vomiting.

Good luck!

Yes, thank you it is VERY important that you make sure of that.

Diatomaceous Eartyh (Food Grade), the cats don't mind it in their food at

all. I've read that animals will go to it voluntarily if it is available

and I'm considering giving it to my neighbors to use on their llamas. They

have about ten llamas I watch from my kitchen window as I live on the

hillside above them. A llama once saved a duck from a coyote who was after

him by protecting the duck under him and swearing at the coyote, funniest

thing I had seen in years. This is in Los Angeles county about 20 miles from

the heart of the city. I live in a small hilly area surrounded by freeways

but we have been able to keep the neighborhood rural and open by keeping out

developers. My house is falling apart, like its owner but we're hanging in

there.

Thank you. I did some inspecting and did find a flea on my other cat.

so I think that might be the problem. I have about 12 stray cats

outside that I feed and the dog probably picked up fleas going in and

out around the cats. Where can I buy the Diatomaceous Earth (Food

Grade), and what form does it come in? caps or powder? I read about

that to kill fleas by spreading it on the carpets for 24 hrs and then

vacuum up but what I read said to keep pets and children away from it

and to wear a mask when you clean it up so as not to breath it in. Is

this the same stuff I was reading about? Is it safe to ingest? Can I

give it to the outside cats for fleas? I have been adding AC vinegar

to the drinking water of dog and both cats for about a month now, I

read that was good for them too.

If fleas are what is causing the rash and vomiting I may have to go to

the vet and try to find a med that she can tolerate. The last time I

used it on her she ran around the house like she was on fire and I

washed it off with soap and water. I don't want to use the chemicals

if I can take care of her naturally. I am going to vacuum everyday

for about two weeks and bathe all the animals in dish soap to see if

it helps. I will be all cut up after the baths. She will be ok but my

other maine coon who is so sweet, will not take a bath without

scratching me on the arms. He hates a bath! I bought fish oil caps for

the dog who has skin problems too and I will try giving some to the

cats. I have been doing the AC vinegar and the fish oil to prevent

fleas and I thought it was working. I guess it is to some degree or I

would have found fleas before now. I don't know why I didn't think of

that? BTW the llammas atory was a hoot!!

We received some bad news tonight. One of our local TV news anchors

Heather Pick, died of breast cancer, she was 38 yo. She leaves a

husband, a seven yo daughter and a four yo son. My daughter died of

breast cancer in 2005. I remember I was still grieving when I heard

that Heather Picks cancer had returned. Please remember her family in

your prayers, they are going to need it.

I bought the diatomaceous earth from earthworks.com online and it is quite

reasonable but of course the shipping adds to the cost. yes you shouldn't

breathe it into your lungs but apparently it's not dramatically dangerous as

you can put it on the animals and on one of the testimonials they talked

about them taking dust baths in it so again. it must not be a major

problem. It has certainly controlled the fleas on my two cats and it is

keeping away the ants that have been a problem in my kitchen It is a powder

and I just add a little to their food with their vitamins and they gobble it

down. My nails are harder and I have stopped biting them which I've done my

whole life and I'm 81. I'm also using magnesium oil on my skin from

DermaMag so it could be that. Hard to say which gets the credit. I can't

take magnesium in pill form because it is a laxative and I already am dairy

intolerant and have that problem anyway.

One of my cats had a similar problem; of coughing badly

so i took her off all canned cat food

and put her on high quality dry Kibbles (Purina One; no cough in 2 yrs.

The whole trick is: your Cats; system is plugged up; put her on dry feed

for a week and see if she gets better; mix a raw egg (or Tuna) in feed;
