A novel antimicrobial peptide designated melectin was isolated from the

venom of the cleptoparasitic bee Melecta albifrons…

 

 

 

Synthetic melectin exhibited antimicrobial activity against both

Gram-positive and -negative bacteria and it degranulated rat peritoneal

mast cells, but its hemolytic activity was low…
