Guest guest
Hi, My 8 year old son was diagnosed with Lyme disease. We don't know how long he'd had it...but one day his joints were aching so bad we rushed him to the ER. They tested for Lyme and called us about a week later to tell us. He was put on a round of antibiotics. When the course was finished, I took him back to the same Dr. to get his blood drawn to make sure he no longer tested positive. The Dr said he didnt want to send him to get blood drawn and told us to find a Neurologist who can draw his blood & consult us....thinking there may be a neurologic manifestation because my son is having trouble concentrating in school and having sleep disturbances. I researched and found out that some U.S. states, like New Jersey, have even enacted legislation to aid children in schools with Lyme. Apparently it can make them tired and sluggish, falling behind their peers and getting overwhelmed with schoolwork. There's alot of info on it on the Web--- but I was wondering if anyone has any *personal experience* with this disease and if there are any homeopathic ways that I can help him get a better nights sleep? We have tried Chammomile tea...thank you so much for any advice! Jennifer minimalisticliving/
Guest guest
Hi Jennifer - I have had Lyme Disease as well, but as an adult so I don't know if my experience would help your son. I treated mine entirely holistically - no antibiotics. It took six months of treatment, but then I was - and remain - well. If you want to e-mail me privately, feel free to do so. I don't remember having much trouble sleeping. But, in general, for help sleeping, you might want to look into Calms Forte, a homeopathic remedy. For his age, he'd take half the regular dose. Lavender might help him relax and sleep, too. You can put some sprigs of fresh or dried lavender in his pillowcase, spray it with lavender hydrosol or make up a mixture of lavender essential oil and a carrier oil (almond, olive, etc.) and rub a bit on his temples, back of his neck. A nice warm bath could help, too. And make sure he has time to wind down at night - no last minute computer or video games.
